We love this location because it is away from the resorts The views are outstanding and if you like a laid back environment and just really want to relax this is a place for you Little Town right by it has some good places to pick up food and beverage but it's definitely worth making it stop at the supermarket we love sitting on the balcony and interacting with the other visitors. The apartments themselves are just fine for what we want a little bit of cooking and a lot of hanging out we're not looking for a five star luxury but a relaxing place.

We loved having breakfast on the balcony, hanging by the hammock, and walking to the private beach nearby. We also planned excursions with them and would highly recomend!

  • Where exactly are you guys located?
    The location is shown on the map in Booking.com. It's a private house by the sea, not too far from Iberostar Resort. You can also type "Calypso Villa Jamaica" in Google maps to see the location.

    We are located 20 mins drive from the airport. Booking.com has the exact location on the map. If you are using your phone - scroll down and click "show on the map", for computer - just look at the map under the calendar. I hope this helps!

Calypso Villa is a large Jamaican HOME with several independent sea-view apartments, located right by the sea. This is not a hotel, resort nor a guest house. We have NO TV and don't offer shampoo or other typical amenities you'd find in hotels. However, we do provide the most important basics for a comfortable stay, including AC, Wi-Fi, bedlinen, towels, soap and sea view. Please check the list of amenities for each apartment, since these can vary depending on the unit you choose. Please also note, we do not offer breakfast - instead we encourage guests to use local cafes and restaurants to support the local community, all located within a walking distance. Why book us? Our place is for guests who are looking for a home to get away from it all and experience LOCAL JAMAICA while being right by the Caribbean Sea. Our strongest side is sea view, fast response rate and guidance through Jamaica. All apartments have independent entrance and self-checkin option. Calypso Villa is the only private house in all of Montego Bay area right at the seaside.
Calypso Villa is managed by Irina and AJ. Irina is a popular Jamaican-Ukrainian YouTuber and journalist and her videos can be found at "Jamaica with irie" YouTube channel. AJ had extensive experience working at hospitality industry and helps to manage Calypso Villa. The owners of Calypso Villa are a Jamaican family who on and off live on property in a separate unit between their travels.
Our home is located 20 min drive from the airport, between IBEROSTAR RESORT and HARD ROCK HOTEL (this hotel is currently under construction). Calypso Villa is relatively FAR from the center, clubs/bars/nightlife, which makes it perfect for rest and relaxation. Since our house is the only house built at the sea side, the closest neighbourhood starts on the other side of the road (5 minutes walk) and is called Lilliput. It is a SAFE beautiful authentic Jamaican neighbourhood which lies in the hills - feel free to take a walk there. We love this neighbourhood, because it is relatively quiet (as much as it can get quiet in Jamaica..), there are many nice people around, and it's not as hot as in any other area of Montego Bay, thanks to the sea breeze. Please view the pictures to see distances to other places. >>>> Local shops and Food- 5 minutes walk, where you can buy the most essential things such as bread, drinks, fruits etc. There is also a small local cafe, where Jamaican cooked food can be bought at a rather low price. There is even a Jerk Center, which cooks National Jamaican food in the evenings. >>>> Big supermarket - 10 minutes drive. There are only three big supermarkets in Montego Bay and one of them is located very close to us by Montego Bay standards, only 10 minute drive along the highway. >>>> Public beach - 5 minutes walk it is a SAND beach. Please note, however, sea weed and some plastic bottles "are included", as, unfortunately, everywhere in Montego Bay. >>>> Transport - 2 minutes walk to the main road, where you can get a cheap ROUTE TAXI (Jamaican public transport) to go anywhere else in Montego Bay. Prices for route taxis vary from 1 to 3 USD per person per ride. >>>> Note, the construction of Hard Rock Hotel which is being carried out not far from our location, does not cause any inconvenience for our guests, however, we still believe it is important to mention this here.
