Hammoud is a Bedouin and local guide working with tourists for over 20 years. He loves to share Petra's magical secrets, the special details and unique features that guests would otherwise miss. Joy has traveled to over 60 countries and counting. She loves to travel, meet new people, learn about their culture and really integrate within their community. By booking our Guesthouse, you get the advantage of leveraging our combined knowledge of our experiences giving you a unique opportunity to gain some of Hammoud’s local knowledge learning about the secret paths and hikes that most tourists do not get to experience and Joy’s understanding of Western travelers needs and desires to explore a different culture. Joy traveled to Petra in 2011, fell in love with its incredible beauty, the simplicity of the Bedouin way of life and eventually Hammoud on his white horse, the rest is the ever after of every fairy tale story. Now you get to experience the side you don't see in the story books. We have been married since 2014 and have a wonderful daughter together. We love hosting guests and showing them the Bedouin hospitality. As well as guiding them off the beaten tourist paths of Petra. We try to offer the perfect balance between the renown Bedouin hospitality while offering our guests the western comforts Joy can't live without.

Umm Sayhoun, known locally as the Bedouin Village, it is located about 3 km (6 min drive/ 2JD taxi) from the Main Entrance to Petra and the tourist town of Wadi Musa. It is centrally located within the larger Petra Area and has easy access to the two other entrances to Petra: -The Little Petra Entrance is the best way to enter Petra, the walk has amazing views of the Wadi Araba Desert and you arrive directly at the Monastery avoiding the 800+ stair climb -The Village entrance is 300 m from the Guesthouse, using it avoids the long Siq walk to the site offering you direct access to the Royal Tombs, Temple, Church, Theatre and Roman Road. Staying in the Village will give you a genuine local experience which is very different from the nearby tourist town of Wadi Musa. This is a local community, staying here is for people that want to have a local flavor as opposed to the typical tourists stay. You will see children playing in the street and donkeys, goats or other animals roaming the streets. There are mini-markets, a falafel shop open to mid-day and a small fast food restaurant in the evening. Wadi Musa is easily accessible for any other services.
