Tadaima. You will feel like you are home when you stay at Shiro Cottage. Shiro Cottage is a three bedroom, self contained cottage that boasts Western style facilities with a Japanese influence. With easy access to the mountain, restaurants, bars and tourist attractions, it encompasses everything that Hakuba has to offer in all seasons. Shiro Cottage is an easy walk to the free shuttle bus that will take you to your favourite mountain and to the hub of Echoland that is only a 400 metre easy stroll away. Here, you will find a mix of both western and traditional dining experiences and bars to meet your needs. It is also only a 3 minute drive by car to the nearest lift. On arrival in Hakuba, you will be greeted by our English speaking staff who will transport you to Shiro Cottage, allowing you to simply relax and take in all that Hakuba has to offer with minimal stress. On check out, you will also be transferred to your departure location within Hakuba.

I love everything Japanese. From the mountains and snowboarding in winter to the mountain hiking, biking and rafting in summer, Japan to me is a country steeped in culture and tradition. The warm welcome that the Japanese people give you from the moment that you enter their country to the moment that you leave, will make you feel that you will visit again. Hakuba is not only a perfect place to spend your days playing in the powder snow, it also shares close proximity to the famous Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, the Kurobe Alpine Route Snow Road (open from mid April each year), the Daio Wasabi Farm and historical Matsumoto Castle. It hosted the Nagano Winter Olympics in 1998 so a visit to the Ski Jump Stadium is a must! If you visit in early January, you can also experience the Dosojin Fire Festival in Nozawa Onsen only a 2 hour trip away. In the valley lies a choice of 8 ski resorts that cater for all abilities.

"Shiro" is nestled in the heart of Misorano Forest in Echoland, Hakuba. This location allows you to view the locals taking their early morning/ afternoon dog walk, going about their everyday business and Japanese children playing in the snow whilst offering you a sense of privacy to take it all in. The fact that the cottage is submerged in the forest, allows you to quietly take in the culture and become an observer out of the rat race and tourist trap.
