Amskou Nomad Camp is located in Erg Chebbi, at front of the Merzouga sand dunes. Our luxury and spacious tents are inspired by Moroccan design with confortable extra-large beds and fully equipped bathroom with shower. The camp has a large tent restaurant where you can taste excellent Moroccan culinary specialties. In case of dietary requirements we can prepare adequate meals. After dinner we will be glad to entertain you with our traditional music around the bonfire waiting for your magical night under the stars. My name is Ali, I was born in a nomad family in a village in the south of Morocco not far from Rissani town and the desert dune of Erg Chebbi. I boast over 20 years experience as tourist guide for groups and private people who come from all over the world to visit my beautiful country. I have a local tourist agency and togheter with my staff we organize tours throughout Morocco. In 2019 the passion for my job led me to realize my dream…that dream was Amskou Nomad Camp. It was my grandmother who suggested this name for my desert tented camp. She told me that Amskou is an ancient Berber word that describes a beautiful and good place to settle. A place with soft, welcoming and fertile ground where the tribe feels safe and will live well and where animals can grow strong and produce more milk. A place that feels right. Amskou is our beautiful oasis in the desert. It's a place we dreamt of and found learning from the wisdom of the ancient nomadic caravans. These were nomad people who didn't choose perhaps the greenest or most comfortable place, but the right place.

Itinerary includes, for example, a visit to a nomad family living on the desert edge to share refreshments, meeting children and seeing how the ladies of the household carry out their day; fossil searching, if you're interested in rocks there's nothing sweeter than finding your own; a visit to abandoned historical villages and a working mineral quarry; impressive panoramic views at erg Zniggi. A stop at Khamlia village to listen to the musicians, descendants of slaves from Mali and Mauritania playing the rich and spiritual sound of Gnaoua music; exploration of the local villages and experiencing Amazigh life at close hand.
