The staff is nice and speaks English. The bathroom is big. Big lockers. A small fan next to your pillow. Drinking water is provided. Very good location in the center in front of the food court.

Very good location in Taiping. Within walking distance is the Lake garden, food courts & places of interest. Host Tricia Woo is very courtesy & friendly. The premises is kept sparkling clean with nostalgic antique items displace giving a feeling of ages gone by. An unique place to stay and highly recommended for single traveller /guest.

The location was perfect, in the middle of the heritage town and close to local eateries and the famous Taiping Garden was 10 mins walk away. The property is located in an older building featuring Chinese architecture from the late 1800’s. The property is well maintained and it really provides that authentic experience of staying in an old town house. Think lacquer flooring, chinese period furniture, natural ventilation with modern toilets cum shower. There are rooms for two and even dormitory sharing for up to four. Owner has set up security well and room card provides ease of access into and out of property. Filtered water, coffee and tea available complimentary.

    Our reception close at 7pm, but 10pm on friday, saturday and sunday. However we will be able to arrange the late check in for you. Thank you.

    We have one reservied parking. First come first serve. There are parking space along the street (coupon/perak@park app). 8am to 6pm. Hourly 0.60.

Current host - Tricia, a born in Taiping passionate nature and art lover. She knows good foods, good arts, a kind heart ready to help whenever you need one. (2014 to 2017) Yin and Ken founded Sojourn Beds & Cafe guesthouse in 2014 when there were no other guesthouses in Taiping. Miss Yin was born in Taiping to a Malaysian-Chinese family and loves her home town. Mr Ken was born in London, but lived most of his life in Australia before adopting Malaysia as his new home. Yin and Ken are more than happy to share their insider tips to make sure that you get the most out of your stay in Taiping.

Sojourn Beds & Cafe guesthouse is situated in the very heart of Taiping, in a typical and classic renovated 1930’s shophouse. We offer our guests comfortable and cozy accommodation, with spacious lounges to chill out and socialise with other travellers. Enjoy a slow and leisurely morning in our downstairs cafe with inside and outside seating, whilst enjoying complimentary 24/7 coffee & tea. Upstairs, you can enjoy two lounges and our garden terrace. We have 8 dorm beds and 4 private rooms, all with shared bathrooms. We take pride in keeping our guesthouse spotlessly clean for our guests.

Neighbourhood information

Our guesthouse is adjacent to the major sights, tourist office/clock tower, banks, money changer, post office, and day and night food court. The train station is 1.4km (a 19-minute walk) and the town bus station is 900m (a 12-minute walk) away. A perfect location for exploring beautiful Taiping!
