Dakune Lodge & Chalet (previously Youthtown ) is THE ideal accommodation for any season! The lodge is warm and cosy, and features a log fire, large TV (with DVDs and Netflix), surround sound system, books and board games. The accommodation has ten bedrooms (sleeps 28) front and back sunny decks, a large backyard with fire pit and a hot spa to enjoy at the of a cold day! There is also a sauna, games room with pool table, and drying room for ski gear. For groups larger than 28, Dakune Chalet (previously Youthtown Chalet) is available on the same site and sleeps up to 10. 15 minutes walk to the train station, bars and restaurants and in close proximity to spectacular walks, ski fields of Whakapapa (40 mins) and Turoa (20 mins). It's a great area to hang-out and relax, has modern facilities and is a wonderful location for small school groups, family reunions, weddings, or holidays. Ohakune is a small town in the North Island of New Zealand, situated 215 kilometres north of Wellington and 292 kilometres south of Auckland. It is located at the southern end of the Tongariro National Park, close to the southwestern slopes of the active volcano Mount Ruapehu. Located within the Manawatu-Wanganui region, the town is 70 kilometres northeast of Wanganui and 25 kilometres west of Waiouru. A rural service town known as New Zealand's Carrot Capital, Ohakune is a popular base in winter for skiers using the ski fields (particularly Turoa) of nearby Mount Ruapehu and in summer for trampers hiking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
