Ferragudo is a village in the municipality of Lagoa, in the Algarve region. The name Ferragudo derives from an iron engine placed on the beach that was used to hoist fish and heavy goods from boats ashore. This village located at the mouth of the Rio Arade is full of typical houses and breathtaking landscapes. This village has always been linked to the sea and the river, and from the very beginning it was in charge of the salting of fish by the Romans until a recent past linked to the canning industry. You will also find various routes in the village and its surroundings.
