Welcome to House Hortenzija. Located in Ljubljana's bustling center, House Hortenzija offers a charming escape named after the delicate Hortensia flower. With a single apartment and five rooms, each accommodating two guests, it provides a serene setting for a vacation in the capital of Slovenia. The apartment, spanning 20 square meters, boasts a private bathroom, while the cozy 15-square-meter rooms share facilities and access to a communal terrace. Though not modern, the accommodations are comfortably equipped for a relaxing stay. Perfectly located for exploring Ljubljana's attractions, from its historic Old Town to cultural landmarks, House Hortenzija invites guests to immerse themselves in the city's enchanting ambiance. My grandmother Marija and grandfather Otmar went to Hortensija, for which the plans were made l. 1935, moved in 1940, when my grandfather finished his studies at the trade academy in Vienna. He opened a shop and a small gas station in the house. Apparently, the oil tanks are still under the pavement :) The house was later well preserved and maintained by my mother Anica and my father Boris. With gratitude to my ancestors, who created the house and its story, I remodeled and renovated the house in 2023. Inside, the oak staircase was completely preserved, which is still as beautiful as it was 83 years ago :) I also remember from my childhood that a hydrangea always grew at the entrance to the yard, hence the name of the house. Grandfather's shop on the ground floor now houses a pleasant barber shop.

I like to wander around the world to push my boundaries and expand my external and internal horizons. So I came up with the idea to invite the world into the house (after my ancestors left one by one). This is a feeling that gives me great satisfaction and joy, and I hope that you will feel the best in Hortenzia, because you are most welcome :)

Ljubljana is a wonderful city. Being known also as the green capital, located in the strict center of Slovenia, amazingly represents the country. Even though it is a bit crowded for us, for most is one of the least crowded capitals. It offers everything. Lots of lovely decorated and maintained parks, forests, walking and cycling paths, Ljubljanica's river banks (which is absolutely lovely and romantic), the famous marketplace, the Dragon's bridge, ''Three-bridges'' and many many more things to see. It not just the capital of the country, its also the culinary and cultural capital of Slovenia.
