The Hygge Home is a historic rowhome built in 1890. Decorated with a minimalist Scandinavian cozy and chic vibe, this one bedroom, one bath home is the perfect place for a weekend getaway or longer extended stay. Enjoy the private backyard for morning coffee, a meal, or to just sit and listen to the birds! Located at the end of one of the main streets of downtown Frederick, shops and restaurants are within 12-15 minutes walking distance. Baker Park and Carroll Creek are just one block away. Hygge is a Danish concept that encompasses the feeling of coziness, comfort, and contentment. The Hygge Home is ideal for the traveler who wants to take advantage of all that there is to do, see, and eat in the area! After a full day of exploring, the space is perfect for curling up with a book and a blanket in the basket chair by the window or settling in to one of the comfy robes available before enjoying a restful night on the super comfortable new Sealy mattress and quality Egyptian cotton sheets. The kitchen is equipped with the basics. The table in the dining room doubles as workspace and good wifi is available. The Hygge Home is over 130 years old! There are some creaks and noises and you will hear the steam radiators keeping the home warm and cozy in the winter. The home does not have central air conditioning, but there are newer window units in the first floor dining room and in the second floor bedroom to keep cool in the summer. The Hygge Home is located at the end of one of the main streets in downtown Frederick, which is mixed with private homes and businesses. It is a 12-15 minute walk (more depending on pace and mobility) to the heart of downtown. Since it is a main street, expect cars to pass by the house and typical car noise on the street. Otherwise, the block is relatively quiet. Please note there is NO TV or MICROWAVE in the house. Laundry can be made available to guests staying for a month or more upon request.
