Would definitely recommend a tour of Uzbekistan. The ancient history of the silk road with the modern city of Tashkent with its museums and beautiful parks with activities for all ages. I took the train to Samarkand and one day really wasn't enough time to take in the beauty of the temples. Go visit before this jewel becomes too known.

Youtubers call Uzbekistan as "the cheapest country in the World". This is not entirely true. Restaurants are priced at European price level. Only local uzbek cuisine is very cheap ($5/ meal). But after a few days of eating local cuisine you will start missing European one. Groceries and cigarettes are very affordable too.
I find uzbeks as rude scammy people looking to take advantage of unsuspecting tourists. In some cases they markup prices 10x only because you are a tourist.

I enjoyed the parks, markets, art galleries and museums, found it very easier to get around by Metro or taxis. As i am a not a meat eater i found it hard to find meals to suit my diet.
I found Tashkent and through the country very safe, never felt uncomfortable. I found the people very, very friendly and helpful.
I can honestly say i enjoyed my stay.

Not much to see in Tashkent.
Not much to see in Tashkent. There is a river in the centre of the city, its are is nice. The television tower is an oprion to visit, however the view correlates with the scenery of the city from below.
Corshu bazaar is interesting. Avoid Besh Qazan restaurant, it is very industrial and overrated for plov. Greasy, poor quality and the service is bad, they mix up orders. You can have a better plov in any good restaurant.

A city just beginning to rise to international prominence.
A city just beginning to rise to international prominence. Friendly, safe, civilized, cheap and hardly any muezzin noise. Supposed to be the 4th most polluted city in the world as residents burn their waste in the open, so asthmatics cough a lot; but there is no bad small or particulate haze. Nobody speaks English outside the hotel receptions so take an app that does instant Russian for you. Nearly all drivers will act as taxis if you stick your thumb out and agree to pay $4 for the ride which is twice the yonder rate.

It's a bustling city which is very green - big mature trees shade the streets/pavements which is necessary when sheltering from the intense summer sun & helps keep you cool from the heat.
There are lots of parks, too. So if you need to sit down & rest there are plenty of opportunities to do so.
Public transport is well organised & very cheap. You pay the driver when you get off the bus & one fare is a standard 2,000 som when I was there (about 13p in Britain). But it's the metro which is both most useful for moving around) & the stations which are stunning to look at. Just remember that security will want to scan your bag every time you enter a metro station.
People are incredibly helpful & hospitable & a lot speak at least some level of English, so communication is surprisingly not really a big issue.
Tashkent has some excellent museums & galleries & I strongly recommend the State Fine Art Museum if you're into painting.
Unbeatable Korean hospitality can be felt throughout my stay. It has an Grand Dame feel to this refurbished hotel, with attention and efforts in many details. The breakfast is especially outstanding from an Asian perspective. I get a decent takeaway box at 4 and 5am on two mornings as I have to get ready for early day trips. There is a "Hall of Fame" showing the celebrities who have stayed in the hotel and you know it is really among the best in the city. The pool is a lovely retreat considering Tashkent's scortching summer days.
Soviet legend! Located in the heart of Tashkent, this impressive hotel dominates the central Amir Temur Square. The hotel staff is very helpful and speaks very good English. Everything you need is available in the rooms. Breakfast tastes good and gives you strength for the day. Bar and restaurant on the 17th floor with wonderful views over the city. The hotel is undoubtedly in line with other Eastern Bloc classics such as the Cosmos in Chisinau, the Hotel Leningrad or the Slavija in Belgrade. I can highly recommend it!
Tashkent has no single obvious center. This estanlishment is in SE quadrant of the city, as are most other butique hotels, too. Less than 10 min to Kosmonavtlar metro station with fantastic murals; likewise, to the lovely longish and narrowish Park with some restaurants; 15 min to the excellent national museum; the staff sold and tuned up a lomalla sim card at local, not airport price.
Absolutely amazing Hotel right in the city centre of Tashkent! We love our stay so much!
Choose this place if you need clean, cozy and minimal nordic freshness! Remind me a lot of European best places I've been to!
Best hotel in Tashkent. Lobby and facilities well appointed and clean, rooms confortable with nice bathrooms and products. Ate dinner at rooftop restaurant, excellent service (Victoria) and good food.
