Staying at Putra’s ecolodge was genuinely one of the most meaningful travel experiences in my life. From the moment I landed in Medan, everything was perfectly organized, Putra arranged a private driver to take me directly to the lodge, where Putra welcomed me late at night with so much kindness and flexibility. The bungalows are simple yet perfect: comfortable beds, deep sleep, surrounded by jungle green. Waking up to hornbills, monkeys, and endless birdsong felt magical. The location is really convenient, close enough to Bukit Lawang (20 minutes’ scenic walk through jungle and villages), yet quiet, calm, and connected to nature. Putra and his family make you feel at home. His wife’s cooking is full of love, and their restaurant is a beautiful open space to relax or work. I joined a one-night trek with Putra and his team, where we saw incredible wildlife, learned so much from his deep respect for the forest, and laughed so much thanks to his team’s humour and warmth. This place is affordable, authentic, and overflowing with heart (met some incredible travellers here too). The whole experience goes above and beyond... Thank you so much Putra and team, I am forever grateful and cannot recommend this place enough. I will definitely be back 🥹

Toris and his family are the most genuine and kind people I have ever met. I felt like family only 24 hours after arriving (as a young solo traveler who has never been to Asia). They constantly showed me around their island. Toris also taught me how to surf in only a few days & his family taught me how to cook Indonesian style! I 100% recommend getting the full meal package, as all meals are home cooked and delicious! The location is perfect, right on the beach & only a couple minutes from the touristy areas of the island. Toris is one of the best people I have ever met & I will never forget my time spent here. I am already looking forward to coming back!

The owner is super kind, she adapted the menu to my dietary requirements and made me the most amazing tortilla in Sumatra, she also took me to town on her motorbike to start the bike loop around the lake. Everything was so easy and smooth, they have all the info you need to know to enjoy your time at the lake. She also arranged my transfer to Padang. The massage they offer is also worth trying it. Last but not least, the views from the cottage are incredible!

We loved everything about our stay. The bungalow is much better than in the pictures. Super cozy and comfy. They also have a great terrace facing the sea. Dolin and his family are also very kind and friendly and make you feel very welcomed. We loved everything about the guest house and would surely be staying here again!

A wonderful place with clean, comfortable cottages, and dinner at a communal table where all guests had the opportunity to get to know each other, chat, and share experiences. The stuff was very friendly and helpful. We went on a snorkeling trip for a chance to see the paradise. The owner cares about the environment, tries to minimize plastic use, and runs a sea turtle protection project. We highly recommend this place.

Air Manis Hillside Villa Cafe & Resto conta com acomodação com jardim, estacionamento privativo grátis, lounge compartilhado e terraço em Padang. Pantai Air Manis fica a 16 minutos a pé de distância. The property is well located. It is off the beaten track so it is quiet and peaceful (unless the neighbor has karaoke), but it is only a 10-minute scooter ride to the center. Breakfasts do not have a large selection, but everything is fresh and delicious (including local fruit). The staff tries very hard with every contact. Thank you very much to Rivaldi and Herwin for their hospitality, smiles and kindness. I recommend Air Manis Hillside!

MB Camp Singkil tem jardim, lounge compartilhado, terraço e restaurante em Gosongtelaga. We LOVED our stay here. So much care and attention has been given to the rooms, which are super spacious, very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well maintained. A highlight was sitting out on the verandah in early evenings, with a cold drink, watching the river. The bed and pillows are incredibly comfy; the bed linen and towels good quality too. We stayed 2 nights and would very happily have stayed longer, had time allowed. Most people use it as an overnight stop before/after going to the Banyaks, but if you have time and a good book, it's a great place to press pause and rest a few days too.

Mylan and Megan were super sweet hosts, helping with renting the scooter/surf and finding good spots for swimming and to enjoy the area. It was a real pleasure to meet them! Great location in the middle of all surf breaks, delicious and various meals served, basic rooms but don't need anything more with the amazing surroundings. We had the family room with our two kids and we were really comfortable. Thanks again for everything! Livia is still missing the kittens 😅🫶

Panorama Seulako conta com acomodação com jardim, estacionamento privativo grátis, área de praia privativa e lounge compartilhado em Sabang. Iboih Beach fica a 2,2 km de distância. We loved it so much we stayed for 5 extra days! You cannot beat this location. The snorkeling just in front of the bungalows is some of the best on the island. The rooms are simple and yes ours didn’t have a sink but it didn’t really phase us. The owners are lovely and very helpful.
