Ideally located in the centre of Kyoto, Kokonoe Machiya offers air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. One of the highlights of my stay in Kyoto. I had a warm welcome. The rules are explained to me very clearly. I had a personal locker, which was large. The bed was quite comfy too. The facilities are very clean, Owners are great people and good communicators. Please ask them about what to do/see/taste in Kyoto, since they are very knowledgeable about the topic. Will stay again the next time I am in Kyoto.

Aamupala oli monipuolinen ja maukas, joka aamu erilainen ja myös gluteiinittomuus ja kasvisruokailu otettiin hyvin huomioon. Suosittelen lämpimästi.

This was the first "real" hotel my cousin and I stayed at while in Japan (others being Hostels and Capsule Hotels), so this felt like we were staying at a palace. It was great to have a shower and washer/dryer in our room. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel staff was also very friendly and accommodating; they even helped me locate a water bottle that I thought I had lost and held it for me to pick up later. The area was also very nice; we were able to walk to most of the places we wanted to visit while in Kyoto.

The room was extremely well equipped with an excellent kitchen and a good washer-dryer. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Good location 10 minutes walk from the station. Good local places for coffee and breakfast. Highly recommended.

Featuring 1-star accommodation, Pension Kitashirakawa is located in Kyoto, 2.2 km from Eikan-do Zenrin-ji Temple and 2.9 km from Shugakuin Imperial Villa. The staff had little English, but we both tried hard and good-naturedly, and successfully to communicate. The neighborhood was charming and not touristy. Very comfortable.
