Staying at El Albergue Ollantaytambo was genuinely one of the best decisions we made on the trip, hands down. First off, the location is perfect. Ollantaytambo itself is a fascinating town with a history to match—it’s the only one still using the Inca grid system! Plus, it offers two great, fun treks: the ruins and the granaries. But the real boon is its position right AT the station, making it the ultimate base for Machu Picchu. Getting up a couple of hours earlier than everyone else for the trek is great, but there's nothing better than coming back and immediately checking in instead of having to deal with another grueling 2-4 hour bus ride back to Cusco. It's also much more comfortable being at 9,500 ft instead of the 11,500 ft elevation of Cusco. Beyond the incredible convenience, El Albergue is simply an exceptional hotel in its own right. The service is beyond reproach; everyone on the property was so incredibly friendly and attentive. It truly makes the entire experience. The rooms are impeccably designed and wonderfully comfortable. I have to specifically shout out the gorgeous art throughout the rooms and common areas—it’s stunning, and seemingly much of it is from the proprietor, Wendy Weeks. The on-site amenities are another huge plus. The restaurant has exceptional food, and breakfast starts early (6 a.m.) with a great variety. You absolutely MUST book the wonderful Pachamanca lunch beforehand. They also have a local coffee roastery and a distillery right there; we had a great tour at both and really enjoyed the products, especially the Matacuy. Oh, and there are the most adorable dogs on the property, too! Overall, El Albergue was one of our favorite stays in Peru. We had a great time and are genuinely looking forward to coming back.

Casona Checacupe está ubicado en Checacupe, a 26 km de Ollantaytambo templo inca, y ofrece alojamiento con un jardín, estacionamiento privado gratis, un restaurante y un bar. Beautiful building and hotel rooms with character. Lovely and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast.

Hospedaje La Florida está ubicado en Urubamba, a 3 minutos a pie de Plaza de Armas y a 300 metros de Templo San Pedro Apostol. Beautiful property, spacious rooms, comfortable bed, hot shower, fantastic breakfast (eggs, avocado, bread, coffee, fresh juice), and very friendly staff. Loved hearing nothing but roosters in the morning! So peaceful and yet so close to the lots of nice cafes and restaurants. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

El Pisac Inn ofrece alojamientos y un restaurante a la carta en Pisac. La conexión Wi-Fi es gratuita. La plaza principal de Pisac está a 3 minutos a pie. Muy cercano, limpio, muy amables! Bien situado, una terracita interior y un patio preciosos.

El Apu Lodge está situado en las estribaciones de Pinkuylluna, una montaña inca sagrada, y presenta una decoración regional acogedora con piedras a la vista y tapices de colores. Beautiful magical spot and highly recommended. Very heartwarming helpful staff

El Picol Hostal, galardonado con el premio Gold's Q'ente 2015 por los servicios turísticos de calidad, ofrece habitaciones acogedoras con conexión de wifi gratis. Todo el personal es super amable. La habitación es modesta pero tiene de todo y la cama es super cómoda. La ubicación es perfecta.
