Lovely location with an incredible view. Our host Ury was outstanding and did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable. He has built this chalet with much TLC and it was obvious. Unfortunately, it rained in the afternoons so we didn’t get as much chance to explore and look for birds as we wanted, but nature does what nature does. We loved that it was high above Orosí and in a fascinating area. The history of the coffee and sugar cane growers was fascinating. There is much to discover around Orosí and its lovely that’s off the usual tourist path. We loved the Irazú Volcano and Ujarras Ruins (tons of birds and it’s free). We missed other sites due to lack of time and rain, but Ury can advise.

The hotel is somewhat remote (9km drive on unpaved road). Gilberth (the owner) is a very nice person. He really helped me when I got stuck driving a small FWD car, and prepared a very good breakfast. Highly recommended place to stay, but I would recommend driving a 4x4 in that area.

We chose Volare for the last two days of our long and intense holiday in Costa Rica. It was conveniently located between the Caribbean coast and the San Jose airport, so we did not plan any activities for those three days (two nights). And as soon as we arrived, we did not want to leave. The location was so stunning that all we wanted was to admire it from the terrace. The villa itself tells the story of its amazing owner – full of aesthetic details and memories. We immensely enjoyed its space, privacy, convenience and the rest we had there. The overall experience in this place and villa was a tremendous aesthetic pleasure. The place we will never forget and will remember as a top-quality benchmark a visitor can hope for. The staff is particularly kind and attentive. Luis came to greet us at the parking lot: we had never seen that before ! And Marta is very benevolent. Very good breakfast : the omelet, with many things inside, is delicious. The swimming-pool is pleasant and the external mini jacuzzi (big enough for 2 persons) is a pure delice... Parking totally secure. The staff send the list of near restaurants a d the menu if 2 restaurants which can deliver at the hotel... and they do the order for the guests ! A very good stage to recover after the ascent of Turrialba or when crossing between the Pacific coast and the Caribbean coast.
