From the moment I arrived at the Historical Mayor's House, I knew this place was something truly special. This is not just accommodation – it is a beautifully restored traditional mud-brick house that once belonged to Farafra's former mayor. Today, his grandson Abdullah lovingly preserves this unique home and welcomes guests with exceptional warmth. Abdullah is far more than a guide. His knowledge of Farafra, its history and the White Desert makes every trip unforgettable. Together with his family, he creates an atmosphere where you immediately feel more like a friend than a visitor. Farafra is much more than the gateway to the White Desert. Away from mass tourism, I discovered breathtaking landscapes, endless silence and unforgettable desert nights. Sitting around the campfire, enjoying delicious home-cooked Bedouin food and falling asleep beneath an incredible star-filled sky are memories I will always treasure. The oasis itself is also worth exploring, with the Badr Museum, the White Desert Museum, the historic Qasr fortress, the traditional Bedouin house, beautiful oasis gardens and relaxing natural hot springs. Meeting Rami Badr and bathing in the hot springs under the moonlight were unforgettable highlights. If you are looking for authentic Egypt rather than a tourist attraction, this is a true hidden gem. I left with wonderful memories and already know that I will return.
