Facing the beachfront, Oassium Hotel - Adults Only offers 4-star accommodation in La Pineda and has a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre and garden. The included breakfast was incredible - fresh with a great variety. Lots of continental items, including meats and house produced pastries, freshly squeezed orange juice, fancy coffee machines; along with hot items that were actually hot and a chef there to cook other things on request. We had dinner there once too - 26 Euros each - it was also good. The nearby spa facility was great too and included for up to three hours a day - huge hot spas, large warm pools, cool pools, ice, steam sauna. Yes, they were working on the nearby beach foreshore but that didn't create disturbing noise and you can still directly access the beach. The many padel courts next to us were fascinating and well used. All of the staff were lovely. There was also nightly entertainment included at the other end of the sister resorts but starting at 9:30pm, so we never checked it out! Oassium is part of the Estival group and is located on the beach side of the large area along with all of the Estival properties - the whole thing was a quiet haven, with no cars or other vehicles inside the perimeter. Parking was free on the beach road, 3 minutes walk from our room.

Catalonia Magdalenes Hotel is set in Barcelona, 200 metres from the Cathedral of Barcelona and offers a terrace with an outdoor pool with views of the Cathedral and a spa. Parasta hotellissa olivat varmaankin sijainti, huomaavainen palvelu ja erittäin korkealaatuinen aamiainen (todella hyvät leikkeleet ja juustot, mainio hedelmävalikoima ja tuorepuristettu mehu sekä made-to-order kananmunat ja omeletit). Huonekin oli todella viihtyisä ja miellyttävä, sekä näin suurkaupunkiolosuhteisiin myös melko tilava. Meille tuli vastaan ihan minimaalisen vähän mitään, mihin olisimme olleet hitusenkin tyytymättömiä - hieman narisevat sängyt olivat yksi tällainen, mutta eivät nekään pahasti haitanneet. Tiesimme jo etukäteen, ettei meillä olisi lapsen kanssa asiaa spa-osastolle, joten se oli tietenkin täysin ok, mutta ehkä yleisenä palautteena voisin siitä sanoa, että voisi olla hyvä kompromissi, jos alle 16-vuotiaiden läsnäolo olisi kiellettyä altaalla vaikkapa klo 17 jälkeen (tai jotakin muuta vastaavaa, siis että perheelliselläkin olisi kuitenkin mahdollisuus tästä palvelusta nauttia).

Els Jardins de la Martana can be found in the historic centre of Besalú, next to the famous Romanesque bridge. It has free Wi-Fi and mountain views. Quite the immediate spot to stay, situated at one end of a historical town. This town is kind of like the crown jewel of the area but what made it much better was the very sweet staff that worked at this hotel.
