We were just doing a short pitstop for 3 days at the Lake towards our destination - but had we known this place, we would have planned for more days. Situated in Orta San Giulio, 25 km from Borromean Islands, Casa Elsa - Lago d'Orta has a private beach area, private parking and rooms with free WiFi access. Recently, my family and I went on an unforgettable trip to Italy, to the beautiful Lago d'Orta. We stayed in the charming town of San Giulio, at Villa Casa Elsa — and it was truly a wonderful experience. There were five of us and a small Corgi dog, and we comfortably settled into the spacious apartment. Everything was very clean, the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking, including a coffee machine — we really felt at home. The villa offers stunning views of the lake and the surrounding hills. Free parking was available nearby, which is incredibly convenient for travelers arriving by car. There’s also a cozy gazebo with a small grill and a breathtaking view over the lake — although we didn’t use it, it’s a nice surprise for barbecue lovers. The historical center of San Giulio is just a short walk away. In the evenings, it’s amazing to stroll through its narrow old streets, take in the charm of the old town, enjoy the lake views, have dinner at a local restaurant, and sip a glass of good wine. You’ll also find small shops with lovely souvenirs. A special highlight was the Coffee Museum, where very welcoming people serve excellent coffee — a must-visit! One of the greatest advantages of staying at Casa Elsa is the private beach available exclusively to guests — free of charge! It’s only a few minutes' walk from the villa, and the area is incredibly peaceful and scenic. Right next to the beach, you can rent kayaks, pedal boats, or SUP boards. The host, Laura, was extremely kind, welcoming, and always available if we had any questions or needed assistance. Without a doubt, we’ll stay at Villa Casa Elsa again on our next trip — and we’ll recommend it to all our friends and family!

Beauticians and massage therapists come to the Villa when booked. Ebikes are delivered to the villa when ordered. Great place to go hiking or to explore small Italian villages (including shopping tours!). The larger Metropolitan areas are just an hour drive away. Lago d'Orta is less touristy than the other lakes and that makes it perfect for experiencing true Italian lifestyle. We will be back!

Set on the shores of the picturesque Lake Orta, Hotel San Rocco is a renovated 16th-century monastery. It boasts a beautiful garden with swimming pool and views of the enchanting San Giulio Island. The all staff are friendly and also helpful. The breakfast was very delicious and the location was also very good.

Hotel L'Approdo offers a private beach and beautiful views of Lake Orta, and is just a few minutes' drive from Orta San Giulio and the A26 Motorway. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. This is a really nice hotel in a very picturesque location and it is not so touristy as some of the other Italian lakes. Everything was superb and made for a lovely break on our road trip, unfortunately it was only 2 nights . I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
