The breakfast, as others have said, is very exceptional (seafood based so not vegetarian). I guess the host was a chef or something of the sort for 30 years. The facilities were clean, and there were no problems. It was a convenient location for us because there were fireworks nearby on the night of our stay.

The onsen was beautiful and incredibly relaxing, the room was very comfortable, and the food… just amazing! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect and stress-free. They also put in a lot of effort to accommodate our 7-month-old baby, both with food and entertainment, which we really appreciated. Highly recommended for a peaceful and memorable experience!

A stunning property with incredible hospitality - warm, genuine, and highly professional. As is generally the case with smaller Japanese properties outside of the big cities, we did not have to contend with any language barriers. Brett Cox, a member of the staff, is a native English speaker. He made our stay exceptional. Kudos also to the chef for accommodating vegetarians, not an easy feat in Japan. Omotenashi has been perfected by the Setouchi Retreat. Well done.
