Kusatsu Shirane. the location was great and parking space good for 2 SUVs. There was toilet on 2nd level where the bedrooms were and convenient for the senior and young. There were 2 washers and dryers which was a plus for long travel. There was a projection screen which helped entertained the little ones and the living room/communal place was cleverly designed with nice furniture and aesthetics. Importantly the house had good heating system for all rooms during the cold autumn which we all greatly appreciated.

The goldens were so sweet! The hotsprings were great and we didn't have to wait because you have different options. Dinner and breakfast were great! There was so much food and all of it was great!

This was a tastefully designed, classy yet friendly ryokan. My room was Japanese traditional with tatami floors. Every item in it was beautifully designed. My own private hinoki bath on the balcony had a breathtaking view of the hillside and stream below, and the entire time I enjoyed the sound of the water flowing. The food was very good, they served a beautiful kaiseki meal that went on forever (it seemed). At the cafe, they served their house blend coffee called Mori-no-coffee which I enjoyed while sitting in one of their comfy chairs with an art book on my lap. The staff was courteous and nice too, it was truly a perfect day.

The staff are warm and welcoming! The staff was very helpful and took their time explaining things the best they could in English. The hotel is cute and clean! It’s small but cozy! The room was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable! The onsen was very nice and relaxing! The views of the mountains are beautiful! And the food was delicious and beautifully presented!

Everything, especially the isolation . This place is perfect for people like our family, who feel overwhelmed with Tokyo busyness after a few days. It was so nice and relaxing, the onsen was one of the best experiences of my life.

The two people who ran the hotel were extremely nice and friendly, and their cats were also lovely to see. The area is very secluded and peaceful, very idyllic. The shuttle service between Yumoto-Onsen and the hotel was an absolute lifesaver.
