J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. The hostel was fantastic. We rented a tatami room, which was spotless, very comfortable and with a really nice view. The onsen was amazing, we absolutely loved it. Everything was clean, there were snacks, eggs to boil in the onsens in town and all cooking and serving tools to eat them afterwards. The bathrooms were incredibly clean. This was our favourite stay along the Kumano Kodo, despite being the cheapest.

Kyomachiya Ryokan Sakura Urushitei sijaitsee 10 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä vilkkaalta Kawaramachin alueelta. Lovely experience to stay in Sakura Urushitei. We had Japanese style room and couldn't be happier sleeping in cozy futons and softest blankets in such a beautiful surroundings. Had Japanese breakfast each morning, remember to book breakfast in advance :) Ryokan has own bath which can be booked for private use. Convenient location very near Shijo station and Kawaramachi.

Situated along the Okawa River renowned for beautiful cherry blossoms, Imperial Hotel Osaka is a prestigious 5-star hotel with elegant guest rooms, a fitness centre and various fine dining options. Great hotel by the river and short distance from Umeda. Free hotel shuttle to the station and back.

The temple and grounds are stunningly beautiful. The room was the nicest I've had on this trip - comfortable and beautiful. The temple is cold but the heaters in the bedrooms made it very comfortable. The meals were delicious - again some of my best on my entire trip. They were very generous in sharing information about their religion and culture, and inviting tourists to participate in activities that helped us to better understand the life and routine at Ekoin. I appreciated the booklet in the room that explained how to navigate different things (e.g. the meditation, the morning service) so that I better understood. It was a special experience and was grateful for the opportunity to visit here.

Situated conveniently in the Higashiyama Ward district of Kyoto, 祇園四条ホテル is set 100 metres from Gion Shijo Station, 800 metres from Samurai Kembu Kyoto and 1.7 km from Kyoto Shigaku Kaikan Conference... Bed was very comfortable and the location was excellent. Even though it was on a busy corner, the room was very quiet and soundproofed. One of the best hotels we have stayed at during our trip in Japan!

Set in Osaka, 500 metres from Tamatsukuri Catholic Church, Patina Osaka offers accommodation with a garden, private parking, a terrace and a bar. Everything about the stay was perfect, except that at checkout I discovered the actual price was ¥50,000 higher than what I booked on Booking.com. After checking the bill, it turned out to be a so-called ‘breakfast service fee.’ It was quite unexpected and a bit hard to understand

The room was very cosy and comfortable. Perfect for unwinding after busy days of sightseeing and crowds. The bath does wonders for tired legs from walking. The room is stocked with an assortment of free drinks and traditional snacks are provided in the lobby. The location is great, only a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station and close to other public transport. We walked to most of the main attractions. The staff was very helpful and everyone spoke very good English so it was easy to communicate. Our breakfast was cooked with care each morning, making it a great start of each day. We would definitely come back!
