LOG HOUSE at Shima has a hot tub and air-conditioned guest accommodation in Shima, 28 km from Ise Grand Shrine, 29 km from Oharai-machi and 10 km from Shima Spain Village. Great location -- overlooking a little harbor in a small fishing town. We were there in the winter, but had good luck with sunny weather and enjoyed exploring the village. We chanced on the annual Shimenawa ceremony at the Anori-jinga shrine, which brought many of residents of the town together. The house itself is very comfortable, with an open living room and a nice upstairs sleeping space with comfy futons. Fabulous deep tub, with a view. It felt wonderful to have a whole cabin to ourselves. We had a hard time finding the address, but the hosts (although not on site) were extremely quick to help us via Booking messages.

Amazing quality. For breakfast the last day we had 13 things. Absolutely beautiful in the way they were arranged on individual serving dishes....no two alike. We ate in our own little room, with a big window looking out on the Japanese garden and blooming cherry tree. We stayed in a Japanese style room with tatami mat floors, and they put out the futon while we were at dinner, and put them away during breakfast. The shuttle runs to the train station twice an hour, making it easy to visit the Ise Shrine. The staff was pleasant and helpful and professional and spoke some English. I absolutely would recommend this place.
