This is now my favorite onsen. The outdoor bath was incredible with beautiful landscaping and comfortably hot water (not lukewarm). The meals were served in a separate restaurant and they were ornate and delicious. The price was a bit on the expensive side but for the elaborate meals we had for dinner and breakfast and the quality of the onsen, we were more than satisfied. The staff all spoke English so it made our time there very comfortable. The whole inn is very authentic Japanese. If you want a truly Japanese cultural experience, this is your place.

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. The staff was so nice and attentive and the possibility to book 30 minutes for private outside onsen is great. Near to the train station, 10 min walk.

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. Great central location, the Husband offered to drive to and from Yudanaka station and the monkey park. They both were really friendly and welcoming. The whole place felt more authentic than some other more touristy places.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. Excellent facilities and very friendly staff, we felt very pampered and looked after.

I liked the dog so much ! I love waking up to the snow every morning and they welcome me with a warm coffee. They felt like a family to me. I enjoyed staying with them. They tried their best to understand English and they were very hospitable. Thank you!

The location and scenery were beautiful. The room was tasteful and luxurious. The food was delicious and authentic. The staff were lovely, it felt like family and their service and attention was flawless.

Such an amazing location in ShigaKogan! We had a top floor onsen room that was spacious, comfortable, modern with the luxuries included (massage chair, private onsen, and private dining with a 10+ course dinner every night - some of the BEST Japanese food I have eaten). While the staff had limited English they were beyond accommodating and were happy to for us to use translation apps and appreciative of our poor Japanese language skills. The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful in arranging our luggage transport and assisting with our departure. Some of the floors of the hotel are a touch dated...but it added to the charm of our stay and overall experience. We will definitely be back :)
