Offering quiet street views, COZY Inn Free Shuttle service is an accommodation set in Nikko, 12 km from Tobu Nikko Station and 14 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine. although 5mi outside of town, the stellar reviews & that the inn hosted 2 parties at a time, seemed like a good gamble. communications were excellent. as soon as we booked, our host, Hiro, emailed us to ask what languages we spoke. My son can speak some japanese. We kept in touch via text message. Hiro advised us to eat in town, which we did. most of the town shuts down as soon as the shrines do, including restaurants. transportation easy Hiro directed us to the Shimo-Imaichi station, one stop from Tobu-Nikko station. He arrived in his toyota with his shih-tzu, Marie. have you ever heard a dog purr? Marie does the more you scratch her. such a sweetie. location no problem the inn which is Hiro's home, is located near a main road with what looks like quiet side road in front of it. Hiro pointed out this is the Nikko Road that was in use for centuries during the shogunate. the road is lined with old cedar trees. Inn spacious & charming there is a lovely little garden out front. our room was quite large with a small table and room to spread out the very comfy futons & luggage. the kitchen is full size & well stocked next to a living room. a small sink & mirror room is along the hall. in the back hall were a men's & women's bathroom, a shower room & ofuro, the water comes from a deep clean well. a 2nd room was next to ours extra Hiro, speaking Japanese to my son found out he was similar to his son's age & also an otaku. Hiro showed us Harman Electronics, a 2nd hand store, which we went back to on the Nikko Rd w/ a flashlight Hiro lent us, a 15 min walk. the prices were 1/4-1/2 the prices of Akihabara. they also had clothes & household goods. i bought 2 sakura decorated towels NOB 480. i wanted a Mao Mao figure, but they ran 5500-7500 in Akiba. here they were 2500, but i won one for 1000 yen. my son had similar luck. winning 3 figures & buying 6.

Located in Nikko, 800 metres from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Nikko Nishimachi Club provides accommodation with a terrace, free private parking and a restaurant. The Nikko Nishimachi Club a la touto is located within a short walking distance to 4 area Temples/Shrines. Our suite was spacious and comfortable. The hotel offers wonderful private spa access on each floor which can be reserved in advance (there is a nominal spa tax which is paid during checkout). Some free drinks were provided in the room fridge along with some simple snacks (chips/crisps). Bathrobes, pajamas and quality toiletries are also provided. The staff was very courteous and helpful, always using a translation app when needed to ensure a clear understanding. Local cafes and restaurants can have odd hours or closing days, so just be aware. The Indian restaurant above the nearby Lawsons was very good, as well as the crepes in the cafe next door, when open. A visit to the local tourist information center was very helpful. The hotel reimbursed our taxi fees from the train station upon arrival and welcomed us with a glass of wine or juice, which was lovely. They also provided transportation back to the train station after checkout.

The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko features restaurants, fitness centre, a lobby lounge bar and shared lounge in Nikko situated by Lake Chuzenji and overlooking Mount Nantai. Breakfast great, albeit a bit too much.

Featuring garden views, Morino Garden Mashiko provides accommodation with free bikes, a garden and a shared lounge, around 46 km from Mito Station. Morino Garden is a hidden gem. We stayed in one of the tatami rooms and enjoyed the comfort. The room has a sink, fridge, and microwave, and the shared toilet is barely a step away. (Shower is downstairs, still quite convenient.) But the real charm of Morino Garden is the host. Yuriko went above and beyond for us, offering rides, luggage storage, and even a meal we hadn’t booked. We felt as if we’d been welcomed into a home—as, indeed, we had.

Established in 1666, Honke Bankyu is housed in a registered historical building. The Japanese rooms feature traditional decor, futon bedding and a flat-screen TV. We had a lovely room with a view of the river and cozy futons. The onsen were excellent, especially the private ones, and we enjoyed the Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We really loved our stay and would definitely like to come again.

A recently renovated apartment situated in Nikko, Nikko Retreat features a garden. The air-conditioned accommodation is 700 metres from Nikko Station. The best part is climbing net and loft upstairs - my kids very super excited and spent their all free time. Spacious clean and warm rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, with all necessary appliances in the kitchen. The house is suitable for short and long stay any season, as there are heaters and air-conditioning system.

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, Kokage Villa Nikko-KVN is set in Nikko. This villa features a private pool, a garden, barbecue facilities, free WiFi and free private parking. The property was absolutely beautiful and the location couldn’t be better! I can only dream of what it must look like in spring when the massive cherry blossom tree is in bloom. The meat, fruit and coffee was a really nice touch.
