Ines—one of the owners— is warm and welcoming. Our room was splendid—comfortable, lovely, overlooking the beautiful pool. Breakfast was perfect—obrigado Patricia! We liked this beautiful Solar ( a former school where Ines was a schoolgirl—how cool!) so much that we stayed one more night! My friend left for work in Lisboa and I stayed for a third night! One night turned into three because it is so delightful! I have cycled 94,000+km around the world and have stayed at well over 1000+ hotels around the world on every continent except Antarctica—Solar Dos Frades is one of the best! Obrigado Ines! Very tranquil and beautiful property surrounded by green and with ample space to unwind and feel comfortable. Use of large well equipped community kitchen was very helpful. Our hosts Leny and Jerome were brilliant and couldn’t have been more kind and accommodating! What a lovely little family (with little Edouard) who work incessantly to maintain the property and make the experience very personable and comfortable. Excellent breakfast with homemade cakes and crepes, plus other savory items plus a glass of fresh pressed orange juice.

The road getting to the property was a little tight but the location was unbelievable. It is right next to the castle with wonderful views out every window. The yard was also very inviting and private. It was December, so we didn't get to enjoy the yard (and we only stayed one night). There is even a laundry room accessible via the yard. The beds were comfortable including the day-bed adjacent to the living room. It was a lovely place with a lot of character and charm.
