Fantastic day out at zoo was dry day not too hot. Go straight up to the top and work way down it’s a steep hill but take it slow. We - 2 adults - spent 4 hours there. Go for opening time 10am. Have good breakfast before you go nine if the food booths seemed to open until about 12. One restaurant near the bottom which we didn’t use as had brought snacks. Toilet blocks situated in quite a lot of places. Think there is a van that will take you up to top if poor mobility or little kids but unsure if this c is free. Plenty to see the day we went. Huge gift shop on way out. A great place to spend a day
Fantastic Zoo with a wide variety of animals, love the Panda's and the Tigers, STaff full of knowledge. Hint - go when it is cold and raining as the animals are more active and come out. In the heat of summer they stay in their huts and cannot be seen
We had a great day at Edinburgh zoo. In the few years since we were last there, they've made some great improvements. The chimpanzee area was amazing-I could have sat and watched them playing all day. The Sloth was another lovely addition as were the giraffes......it would be great for the zoo to offer giraffe feeding for a few pounds as an optional extra
Is beautiful and the animals well taken care of, thought the habitats were small for some animals. Wear walking boots/shoes, as it is all hill. No joke. Prams will be hard to push on some parts and your thighs will feel the burn. Really nice day out though.
Had a great day out with my friend and her 10 month old little boy. The variety of animals available to see was great. The little one LOVED the flamingos and the rhinos. Be prepared for a lot of uphill walking.
Those with walking problems or young children especially in a buggy/pram,if you show your disabled badge if you have one,a taxi will take up ad down to save those legs. Some parts of zoo I could see people struggling to push Prams up and down with difficulty. There is a mini bus every 20 mins or so takes people up to top so you can walk down. Penguin parade 2.15 daily a must see.
The hotel is next to Edinburgh Zoo, close to the airport, has a big car park, the staff was friendly, the room was a little bit outdated, and worn, but clean and comfy. We stayed just one night, without breakfast.
We spent the day at Edinburgh Zoo and I was really impressed. It had a lot to live up to as we visit Chester Zoo several times a year. Generally, the amount of space for the animals was good. I was particularly impressed with the members of staff who were doing their research with the monkeys. It was the monkeys choice whether it wanted to take part and they weren't forced to. The members of staff that I talked to were very knowledgeable and I learnt a lot whilst there. The penguins enclosure was fantastic and it is the best that I have ever seen. The day that we visited was very rainy but this did not spoil our experience as there were plenty of areas to keep dry. Well worth a visit and I would definitely go again.
