Fantastic cathedral. Kids can let off steam on the grassed area in front of the cathedral, or on the lawn enclosed by cloisters, in hope they'll behave appropriately inside the cathedral! Take the riverside walk from the rail station and take in the sights - Pulls Ferry; Bishops Bridge etc. Decent pint at the Red Lion by Bishops Bridge. Take in the area around Tombland, Elm Hill etc while you're in the area - and perhaps continue along Britain's first pedestrianised street - London Street - to the city centre including market, guild hall, city hall etc.
Awesome! We had a very good tour leader and took our time walking through and around the grounds. The realization that centuries of sacrifice and generosity, innovation and perseverance and inspiration and optimism/faith made our short visit possible was a gift in itself.
Well worth a visit to appreciate the architecture and history of the building and local area. The scale of the building was impressive and the volunteers were very well versed in the history, friendly and approachable
A walk round grounds is lovely inside the Cathedral wander slowly round take in the atmosphere, beautiful stain glass windows, visit the cloisters is a must and at the end do take refreshments in cafe.enjoy your day.
Beautiful inside and out. The cafe is lovely and has been designed to fit in with the surrounds. The cloisters are amazing and I believe some of the largest in Europe. The green area outside is gorgeous and includes a private school and a facility for learning about and viewing the resident peregrine falcons. Just outside the walls is one of the oldest streets in the area and a modern river walk. Wonderful!
A most beautiful Norman Cathedral. You must look up to see the feature arched ceilings and on the left towards the back to see the remains of what would have been brightly coloured walls and ceilings but which have faded over the centuries to pale frescoes. The cloisters and gardens are so beautiful too.
Location to Carrow Road for the Norwich City football match, and the train station, is perfect. Great easy walk to Norwich Cathedral too. Friendly people, delicious full English breakfast, clean room. Perfect!
Obviously Norwich Cathedral is a must, but don't miss St. Peter \mancroft, opposite the Forum
