Oxford Street

Stretching out for a mile and a half, you can pretty much buy anything under the sun on Europe’s busiest shopping street. Big British shopping institutions like Primark, John Lewis and Selfridges stock most of it, and the smaller shops toward Tottenham Court Road can still deliver the odd gem if you keep your eyes peeled.

    The whole world is here.

The whole world is here. I love the busy nature of this street. If you are the type that travel with family, please make a budget first. After my first day with my family, many years when the children were young, I learnt through the hard way. Unlimited spending affected my budget. please don't carry the family to this street without budget.

Oxford Street doesn't have a great reputation among natives of London. However, in the 1980s I would go there to shop at Selfridges for clothes. That's a classy department store and worth a visit.

Don't bother! Over rated tourist trap full of brands you can find on your high street , tat shops and sweet emporia. A real drop in standards and choice from what the old shopping area used to be.

Some buildings are very nice in this buildings and are really good great historical value, some are hardly maintained or never maintained. The good thing is that there is variety of shops in this street for all budgets . They down side is it doesn’t feel safe, the road is relatively narrow ( British standard) and it’s over packed with tourists and obviously lots of mugging going on, I’ve heard of one when I was there for two hours only.

The property is located at an excellent location. The staff were very helpful, specially I do have to mention the Concierge was the best. We felt safe staying in the area as it is almost busy with lot of fun activities, branded shopping outlets at the Regent street, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street etc. The Piccadilly circus bus stop is right outside the property, while the Underground Train station is just steps away.

The hotel is perfectly located for shops and restaurants. Oxford Street and Selfridges, for example, are only 5 minutes away. The room was spacious, well appointed and kept in an immaculate condition. We didn't eat in the hotel but we did have drinks in the bar which is very well stocked

The hotel agreed to an early check-in option which was fantastic considering we were traveling with a toddler. On the top of that we have been upgraded to the two bedroom instead of one so made our stay very comfortable. Location is very good overall, just few minutes away from the Russel Square underground, there are plenty of bars/restaurants/shops nearby. It's a 15-20 mins walk from the Oxford street. Apartments are well equipped, beds are comfortable, the heating worked very well too.

Without doubt, The Cumberland Hotel located in the heart of Oxford street, which make it too easy to start your journey freely. Taxies, buses or the train stations are very close to the hotel. The famous Oxford street is just behind the hotel, which saves the time to shop, eat, or drink coffee. The hotel is save where nobody could reach the rooms without being a resident. I booked two rooms and they were clean. The stuff are friendly every time I contact them, they welcomed to help.
