Weekdays are less crowded, but this is a location where people like to sit and watch the world go by. So, if you are looking for a less crowded time for photos, go there between 7 am and 8:30. A benefit is that you can have breakfast at Babbington’s Tea Room which is just to the left as you fave the Spanish Steps.
Go early to see the area without crowds. On the other hand, if you want to rub shoulders with the Romans, stroll along with them after dinner. There will be thousands gathered there, enjoying the evening, meeting friends, generally happy and relaxed.
Don't count the first "step" and it'll be 135 to the top. Once you get up there, it's beautiful just looking out over the city. Explore the church at the top as well. If you decide to go back down, cool off from the trek at Babington's which is right beneath the left side of the stairs facing the top.
My travel companion had her camera stolen while we dined on lunch at a cafe just off the Piazza. Beware of your surroundings and keep your belongings attached to you at all times in these high-tourist areas.
Liked it, a must see, but plan your visit around whether you want to walk up or down the stairs, it can be approached from two separate areas and depending on how tired you are may push you in one or the other direction.
Steps are steps, nice fountain, didn't get in church at the top. Nice little restaurant in a side street on the left as you walk through to the plaza. Restaurant downstairs on the right, good food and has character.

The staff was very nice and helpful (although when asked a restaurant recommendations for locals we were sent to a very expressive one). The appartment was big, clean and nice. As a welcome gift you get a bottle of wine and 2 bottles of water. Coffee, tea, sugar, salt and oil are also available. The bed was nice and confortable, the bathroom clean. The location is central, you are a few steps from piazza di spagna and piazza di popolo. Metro station is Lso not far away
9.5 Exceptional 126 reviews
Very clean and spacious room; the owner is exceptionally kind and considerate. It is a small BnB so naturally there is no 24 hour staff, but the owner is very responsive and accessible. The neighborhood is more quiet and residential which for me is a positive; it may not be perfect for all but there are buses and underground to get to the historical center (ie Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona).

The place is cute and Fortunia is very nice and helpful. The hotel has a great location, right where the stores are, next to Piazza di Spagna. If you are in a vacation trip, this is a very good area to stay!
