San Firenze Suites & Spa is overlooking historic Piazza San Firenze, just 328 feet from Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery. The hotel couldn’t be more centrally located, walking distance to sightseeing spots, shopping and...
For me, this wasn't as interesting as Uffizi Galleria, so if you only have to go to one, go to Uffizi. However, I bought the combined ticket, which meant that for 38 euro, I could go to the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, and Boboli Gardens within a three-day period, so it was worth it for that. Best parts? Royal apartments are amazing of course, more for the decor than for the art they contain. Modern gallery was my favorite section for art. Worst? The paintings are hung all over the walls, sometimes very high up near the ceiling, sometimes catching bad glares from the windows or lights. This makes it difficult to appreciate them. Also, don't waste your time with their cafe. Their service is awful--I waited 30 minutes and no one EVER took my order--and also overpriced. You're better off eating in the square surrounding the palace.
Make sure your ticket specifies the gardens, palace, or both. The choices weren’t clear, compelling a return to the ticket booth for palace tickets after touring the gardens. Great views of the city from the gardens.
The Palace is beautiful. So much to see. The cafe service was not great, sat for ages and no one came to us so I went in they said someone would serve us at a7€ charge, so sat back outside and waited and no service. Gave up, realised others had left too.
So much to see needs more than one visit to the Palace. The attached Baboli gardens are extensive and lovely, could spend a leisurely full day there, pity there was no open air cafe/restauant in the actual gardens.
Well, who could rate this place as anything but incredible? It's opulent, packed to the gunnels with paintings, jewellery, incredible inlaid tables, ivory (sad face here), glass, silver, etc. In many ways it's obscenely amazing. You realise just how much the Medici's had. Still, there it all is to gaze upon to the point of being totally overwhelmed by the velvets and the oils and the chandeliers. BTW, where'd the servants lived. I'd have loved to see their rooms.
A mind-blowing series of exhibition of riches and possession of the Medici dynasty - an absolute must-see, particularly as the volumes of visitors are in contrast to the Uffizi gallery. A combination ticket will provide access to the Boboli Gardens, a city oasis with fantastic viewpoints.
Lovely hotel and hosts. The scented incense and candles around the hotel was a nice touch. Our room was large and comfortable. Host gives great advice upon arrival of good spots for a morning espresso and places to avoid tourists. Short walk over the nearby bridge will take you away from the crowds and to a more local vibe as recommended, complete with an excellent artisan gelato shop. You are close by foot to the beautiful Pitti Palace and grounds- a must see for your first visit. Exceptional views of Florence can be found here.
Soggiorno Pitti is located right in front of the Pitti Palace and is just a short walk away from all the highlights in Florence. The room was clean and equipped with all required amenities. The fact that it is just outside the main area makes it very quiet and private but not too far away so you can easily walk to the center. There are several cafes around the place which is very convenient. We absolutely loved our stay here!
Decent location- about a 15-20 minute walk to the Duomo city center and then obviously farther to the Pitti Palace and Gardens/Ponte Vecchio bridge etc. The rooms were quite large. The view from the roof was spectacular. We did not use the pool or the spa facilities because it was closed by the time we checked in at 9pm. The water and seltzer machine downstairs was a really nice touch.
The Residence is different from the hotel Pitti Palace. There are only 5 rooms. All very comfortable. Be aware that this is not a typical hotel but rether apartments served by a “front desk” on the 2nd aka third floor. The desk is closed from noon until 2 pm so if you arrive at that time there is no way to get into the property. The elevator is also very small.
The hotel is in a great location very close to the Duomo. It is located on a very upscale street. From the hotel we could easily walk to all the famous places in Florence including the Ufizzi Gallery, the Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti Palace. No question, we would stay there again. The buffet breakfast offered a great many delicious choices.
The bed was firm-no backaches! Very quiet at night. Great location, close to shops, excellent restaurants and gelato, Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. We walked everywhere.
Beautiful room. Very friendly staff. Nice location - very close to Pitti palace, within half-an-hour walking distance to most attractions.
The Pitti Palace was just awesome, and is hardy mentioned in the guidebooks - fabulous ceilings!
