Hotel Savoy is located in the heart of Florence, halfway between the Uffizi Gallery and Florence Cathedral. This was by far our favorite trip and the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at.
For me, this wasn't as interesting as Uffizi Galleria, so if you only have to go to one, go to Uffizi. However, I bought the combined ticket, which meant that for 38 euro, I could go to the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, and Boboli Gardens within a three-day period, so it was worth it for that. Best parts? Royal apartments are amazing of course, more for the decor than for the art they contain. Modern gallery was my favorite section for art. Worst? The paintings are hung all over the walls, sometimes very high up near the ceiling, sometimes catching bad glares from the windows or lights. This makes it difficult to appreciate them. Also, don't waste your time with their cafe. Their service is awful--I waited 30 minutes and no one EVER took my order--and also overpriced. You're better off eating in the square surrounding the palace.
Make sure your ticket specifies the gardens, palace, or both. The choices weren’t clear, compelling a return to the ticket booth for palace tickets after touring the gardens. Great views of the city from the gardens.
The Palace is beautiful. So much to see. The cafe service was not great, sat for ages and no one came to us so I went in they said someone would serve us at a7€ charge, so sat back outside and waited and no service. Gave up, realised others had left too.
So much to see needs more than one visit to the Palace. The attached Baboli gardens are extensive and lovely, could spend a leisurely full day there, pity there was no open air cafe/restauant in the actual gardens.
Well, who could rate this place as anything but incredible? It's opulent, packed to the gunnels with paintings, jewellery, incredible inlaid tables, ivory (sad face here), glass, silver, etc. In many ways it's obscenely amazing. You realise just how much the Medici's had. Still, there it all is to gaze upon to the point of being totally overwhelmed by the velvets and the oils and the chandeliers. BTW, where'd the servants lived. I'd have loved to see their rooms.
A mind-blowing series of exhibition of riches and possession of the Medici dynasty - an absolute must-see, particularly as the volumes of visitors are in contrast to the Uffizi gallery. A combination ticket will provide access to the Boboli Gardens, a city oasis with fantastic viewpoints.
Amazing experience to stay in an authentic Florence apartment right behind the main square and Ponte Vecchio. Easily walkable to the Cathedral, the David, Pitti Palace and all the other great sights of Florence. The energy of the street below is fun to watch from the large windows in the livingroom...but nights were peaceful as the bedroom is tucked on the interior of the apartment. Check in was a breeze, we enjoyed meeting the friendly host who provided great eating/drinking tips around town.
The loft itself is perfect - has enough places to comfortably sleep in for 4 people (parents and siblings aged 10 / 13) and share an evening together in the living room, prepare a light breakfast and be on our ways to sightseeing. Rooms and bathrooms were spotless. The building is charming and very safe. It is located a minute away from Pitti Palace, a must see collection of art. Our host, Dominique, was punctual, very friendly, and he helped us plan our stay.
Super close to Ponte Vecchio and Pitti Palace. Elevator for my mother-in-law with bad knees. Complete kitchen, including dishwasher and fairly big fridge. Living room. Washing machine with detergent provided. Good sized balcony which was great for drying laundry on provided rack. Coffee table pops up to convert to dining table; chairs stored in TV cupboard. Two en suite bathrooms. Pretty quiet. Large bath sheets plus towels were great! Owner was very helpful.
The rooms are beautiful. They have an elegance that fits well with the theme of the Piazza Pitti Palace just across the street. I loved that the the room had an apartment feel. It really helped me feel that I was living in a residence in Florence and not a tourist. The staff was exceptional in helping us with all of our needs form holding our luggage, sourcing places to eat and calling cars to bring us to where we needed.
Outstanding location for doing Florence. Everything is in easy walking distance. 5 minutes to the Pitti Palace and five minutes to the duomo. Quite busy area, some will not enjoy the bustle outside and it can be noisy. That did not bother us at all. Good supermarket in five minute walk. We cooked most of our own meals and enjoyed the products from the Conad Market nearby. Nice apartment.
Large, comfortable room, large modern bathroom, great location. Four adults in our group. Comfortable beds. Service & property staff were excellent. Short Walking distance to The Duomo, Pitti Palace & all activities we did. We only used taxi for service to/from train center. Coffee service every morning.
The property is in a GREAT location directly across from the Pitti Palace. It was extremely spacious with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths (2 ensuite). There was a rooftop patio easily accessible with views of the Duomo and the Pitti Palace.
Wonderful location, 2 mins from Ponte Vecchio and Santo Spirito. 1min from Pitti Palace. Many great restaurants within 2 mins walk. Property is small but has everything you need for 2 people.
The Pitti Palace was just awesome, and is hardy mentioned in the guidebooks - fabulous ceilings!
The uffize and the pitti palace and the gardens of the palace are breathtaking
