Full of Guiness world record breaking coasters..... But they all shut down at even the smallest hint of rain. Long queues for main attractions. Most things are outside so a rainy day will leave you with nothing to do.
Make sure to go on a sunny day. You can still go in the rain, but you’ll only be able to go on indoor attractions. It was so worth it though. The scary labyrinth was super scary, the food was creative and colorful, and the people who work there are amazingly friendly.
If you love roller coasters, arrive early and purchase a preferred ticket for the roller coasters that you really want to ride. Tickets are limited and run out quickly. It's 1000 yen per ticket and each ticket is good for only one use, for one ride. I paid an extra 3000 yen but it was worth it. I waited in line for about 2 minutes for each of the three big coasters that was in operation, instead of the approximately 2.5 - 3 hour wait times. The park isn't very big and the big roller coasters are very popular (keep in mind that I went in November and it was only about 13C or 55F and it was still crowded). It allowed me time to do other things instead of queuing all day. The preferred tickets can be purchased inside the park (past the main entrance gate), just across from Fujiyama roller coaster. There is a ticket booth. If you don't like roller coasters, then don't worry about it. Enjoy the other aspects of the park. Also, if you want a view of Fuji, go on a clear day. Weather is unpredictable of course, but the fall and winter tend to have many more sunny days than the spring and especially summer (rains a lot). It rained almost everyday for me in September and into early October. Mid October to mid November has had many sunny days!
it is awesome, if staying at highland resort hotel ask at reception re day passes and go early to get on at least one of the huge rides. Highland guests are allowed in half an hour earlier. It is also lovely at night. You can find nice food as well as snacks. Even rides for young and or not as adventurous. We would go again!!!!
Great roller coasters. We were there on a rainy day. When we arrived all roller coasters where closed. We took the gamble (had no chance really only there for a day) that one or so would open between showers. Paid our Y5800 day pass and waited. We knew when the coaster openned - the japanese started to run. But don't be fooled, go straight to the ticket box by the mighty mouse, and buy a "fast pass" for that particular ride. This will entitle you to a immediate entry in the time frame chosen, maybe a hour later. (If the ride stops due rain in your time frame you will get credit. Cost Y1000) These passes will sell out so get in early. You need your day pass when buying your fast pass, only one fpass per dpass, but you can buy for multiple rides. Expect the ques to be 2-3 hours at peak times. Enjoy, my 15 year old daughter did !
