I hired a tuktuk to get to the temple at dawn to watch the sun rises behind the temple. I love that experience of capturing the sun rising along with hundreds of other tourists. Later I strolled inside the temple complex listening to live traditional music performed by local groups. Mesmerising experience!
Go Early! The heat, humidity, and crowds can get you if your not careful, take plenty of water. Buy your tickets the day before and carry your passport with you as regular checks are made against the ticket names. Hire a Tuk-tuk and a three-day ticket to see many more temples (some are just as amazing as Ankor Wat!
Not going to see Angkor Wat on a trip to Cambodia is like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower. It's quite pricey at US $62 for a pass valid for 3 days. One day tickets are available for $30 or so. Reading the history of Angkor on the various placards provides a lot of very interesting insights to the place.
arrive early for quicker entry into temple and the heat is not as intense earlier in the morning. also the sun rise photos look awesome but be prepared to share the same location and photo scene. nothing like a good selfie
A fantastic place! But don’t listen to those who advise you to go there at or before dawn to beat the crowds - the crowds are there at that time, too :) In fact, it might be more packed at dawn then later. At any rate, definitely worth seeing this place, crowd or no crowd, just don’t worry if you had one too many fifty-cent beers the night before and need to sleep in - Angkor Wat is still going to be there and will look just as impressive whenever yoo make it to see it :)
I went here twice. Once for the sunset and the other for sunrise. It is totally worth seeing it twice as it is so big and amazing. I had tears running down my face whilst walking toward it as it is unbelievably an amazing wonder of the world.
Perfect timing - no tourists to Angkor Wat due to pandemic worries. This top hotel dropped its prices in order to keep the staff employed - humanism at work. The French Manager was highly visible, very friendly and very helpful. They helped secure me a motorcycle which I used for three days to visit the temple areas. The room and shower were palatial. It was literally the best hot-water shower I've experienced in Asia - and I've been here since 2006. This is a four-star hotel at hostel prices. Get there while you can!!!
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were warmly greeted with some tea after which we were brought to our room. The service during the rest of our stay was also perfect, the staff is very helpful and will arrange everything for you. Further, the hotel is a perfect place to relax after an impressive visit to Angkor Wat. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Angkor Wat / Siem Reap.
The staff is wonderful - so friendly and willing to do anything for you. They can also assist with tours around Angkor Wat and Siem Reap area. The hotel is beautiful with spacious rooms and nice bathrooms. The pool is nice!
When visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia, I recommend staying at Home Indochine in Siem Reap. The hotel is clean and beautiful!!!
I believe they enjoy being a part of Angkor Wat and showing it to the World.
Do take a guided tour of the temples but not with Siem Reap Shuttle Tours - such an amazing place to visit with so much to learn and discover...shame we had the tour guide from "I don't like you because you won't buy the expensive lunch on offer" so he from then on hardly spoke to us! Incredibly rude and spoilt what should have been one of our best explorations. Out of eight people on the tour we were the only two to stick it out till the end as we only had the one day to see as much as we could...we then had to watch many programmes on Angkor Wat to find out what we had just seen! A big shame.
We booked a taxi driver to take us to Angkor Wat and surrounding temples for the day and it only cost us $40, well worth it and got a lot of information from him.
i totally love the place the people there are nice and friendly the art of angkor wat is amazing and you must see it with your own eyes in life!
Visit their national museum, talk to people, ride the tuktuk, taste the local cuisine, visit Angkor Wat and the Temples, explore Pub street.
