Everything is expensive and the standard of the food is getting worse. Rip off for foreign tourists only. Can have a walk around for sight-seeing but don't expect quality food or merchandise. Sad to see Jonker Street degraded like this.
A culture melting pot with very strong colonial architecture dating back to 18century or earlier. Mostly comprises of low rise storey building with some still carrying out business dating back hundreds years ago. Many shops already refurbished into chicky cafe and modern bars. Some prefer combination of modern and traditional interior art decor. It's a street for food and souvenirs. Friday and Saturday is the best day to come.
Stay at “Nancii guest house” they are on bookings. Look down the street in front of 7/11 and turn right. You will see the place. 1 min to Jonker Street yet not noisy at night, tell the owner you want to try the egg over noodles that the locals eat. and that some Canadian guy is recommending. He will point you in the direction.
- if you want to park your car, I recommend to park on the hill, beside the 'red building'. You have to pay for RM5 tho but better than getting a ticket. - other than than, you could park your car near the police station beside the Samudera plaza. You have to walk a bit tho. here, the fee for parking cheaper than the on the hill parking zone. - Coming here, be sure to find Calenthe cafe. The best coffee shop in town! - And 88 noodle shop. You have to queue to get their signature dish tho. But worth the wait!
Great place to visit in this street a lot historical places to visit. Don't forget Friday, Saturday and Sunday Night market from 6pm onwards. From food to basic things you can buy. Don't forget to buy Nyonya pineapple tarts at LW Nyonya Pineapple Tarts House.
The Heeran Straits is perfect for a visit to Malacca! It's right in the middle of everything, in the center of town, one block off of Jonker Street. The hotel itself has been renovated beautifully, and the rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and responsive. Breakfast is great and has a huge selection of traditional Malaccan/Peranakan cuisine. My family loved multi-cultural Malacca and we'd highly recommend the Heeran Straits Hotel to everyone!
Location - Awesome as it's a stone's throw away from Jonker Street. Hotel only has 2 parking lot behind the premise but luckily nearby is an open carpark, so no issues with parking your car. Staff - We were the only couple that checked in that time (people are still scared to travel during RMCO, I guess) and Lilian (front desk) was helpful & accommodating. Even the only housekeeping staff was very helpful to disinfect our luggage & clean up our room nicely.
This is my second time staying at the hotel, this time with my friends. I love the option of a bigger room to fit 3 people, and it's right at the end of Jonker street so we could walk around to nearby shops for food / souvenirs / main sight-seeing attractions. We like that we could get free parking right at the hotel as well!
The place is really cosy and quiet. The location is strategic, so that I have no problem in finding parking lot. It’s just 10-15 mins walking distance to Jonker Street, 5 mins to Makhota Parade and other shopping malls. Owner is really helpful in guiding us to hostel and highly recommended to you.
the hotel were pleasing such a conveniant location less than 10 minute walk to jonker street and near by to malacca attraction point. opposite hotel have a street food that must try cendol durian are superb. looking forward for the hotel upgrade completion. very recommended.
The location is within walking distance to the food places and the malls. U can choose to walk to jonker street, though its abit far. The hotel had a multi story carpark, but its quite packed. The room is nice, clean, spacious. bed is very comfortable.
Breakfast was great and coffee is tasty. Pool was fantastic - large with a view and the perfect late afternoon break from the heat. Hotel location can't be beat. Highly recommend a weekend visit for the night market and Jonker Street atmosphere.
