We visited in the New Year’s Day with a great mood. Went in a lamb leather shop with a warm welcome guy’s invitation in front of this shop. We just asked my mother in law if she like anything so I buy for her like a gift but she refused as she doesn’t want us spend money for her. One lady assistant heard our conversation and soon ask me do I want to buy anything. I was in the shop for only 2 minutes so I said I am just looking! ( of course if I saw any good design that suits me I will try it on and buy after) she then said ( you no buy she no buy why come in?) that just ruined any mood of shopping so we said we can leave if you don’t allow browse and move towards the door. This woman then pushed behind and keep repeating. I then turned and said to her she is very rude and doesn’t know anything about business. She followed us out and shouted to us “ go back to your country!” The front guy apologised but this woman kept chasing and was even trying to touch us!!! I almost called the police! The shop was in the Main Street of Grand Bazaar, near the front door!
A maze of what seems like a million of shops, cafe's, restaurant. Trillions of trinkets to drive you hypnotizing crazy. You need a ton of $$$ (LoL). Plentiful of great options. Great place to be and experience
Prepare yourself for constant approaches as with any market like this. It can be tiring being bombarded by every shopkeeper but it is worth it. I found some absolute gems in the Grand Bazaar and do love the atmosphere.
Really have to bargain. Watch our for guys dragging you to their private stores as they try and rip you off with price claiming their goods are the best. Secondly there are some stores outside the bazaar that’s a lot cheaper than inside. Inside the bazaar the prices are way over what they should be. There are in fact many stores outside the bazaar that’s cheaper. Check them out first. Gold prices are good for 24k but require cash or commission is charged which places the price out of range again.
Pushy but friendly sales banter. Part of the experience.Look around lots before buying anything. Loved the comments back when I said, “ I’m just looking!” The chap rightly replied, “ I’m Just selling !”
Its great to visit for a day or half day...but can get a bit tedious after that. Just remember to halve the price they tell you and start from there. If you feel its too expensive for you...then just walk away - there will probably be a 100 shops that sell identical things!
The staff were fantastic, I wish to send special thanks to Umut who was super friendly and helpful throughout our stay in Istanbul. The location of the hotel is strategic as it was only a few min walk from the Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque amongst many other attractions! There are many many restaurants/ food outlets nearby, also the tram line is a 5 min walk. The views from some of the rooms and especially the roof terrace (Whilst having breakfast in the morning!) are stunning and very relaxing.
The hotel is easy to find (considering you have waze to write their address), it's near a tram station from which you can go directly to their city center (Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, etc). Rooms are equipped with slippers and all necessities (such as bottles of water, tea, teapot, coffee, towels, etc). The staff was very friendly, when we forgot the hard drive in our room, they were nice enough to send it to us. Lots of restaurants around, we recommend Asmalı Konağı Nargile Cafe.
This is our second visit to this fantastic hotel in Istanbul. It has a great location, close to the Grand Bazaar and all the historic sites such as the Hagia Sofia. The rooms are immaculate with excellent facilities, comfy beds and nicely furnished to a very high standard. The staff are simply excellent, especially Adman on reception. Nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is delicious with a great selection of items, all freshly prepared. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Highly recommend.
Modern, cosy and lovely apartment in a really short walk from the Galata Tower in the Galata/Karaköy quarter, just to the north of the Golden Horn's junction with the Bosphorus. Highly recommend to everyone who would like to stay in the heart of Istanbul and enjoy an easy access to its main historical attractions (Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia etc.) Thank you very much for everything! Will definitely recommend this place to my friends and colleagues!
The room was spacious and staff was friendly Kubra the hotel receptionist helped us contact airline to reschedule flight due to coronavirus. She is excellent and friendly Location was great close to the Blue mosque, Grand Bazaar and Sultan Ahmed mosque Not too far from metro station Hotel was modern and spa looked nice could not use due to closures Kettle and tea, coffee was made available to us Bathroom and shower was big and spacious
I traveled alone to Istanbul & reached Muyan Suites around noon, on my arrival they offered me complimentary breakfast. Hotel is quite near to Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia & Basilica Cistern. Staff of the hotel is very cordial and hospitable, they arranged the airport transfer for me from hotel to airport for only 10 €. I'd especially like to thank Mr. Ahmet & Mr. Emre
Brilliant location just up the street from Hagia Sophia. Great view from breakfast area! Close to Grand Bazaar and Spice market. Didn't need to even use the tram during our stay, though we didn't have enough time to go to the Asian side of Istanbul. Been to Istanbul a few times and stayed in the more budget end of the hotels and this is the one I will return to again!!
The location of the hotel is excellent, it's about 5 minutes walk to Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque, a bit more to the Grand Bazaar and about 15 minutes to the ferries heading to the rest of Istanbul. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the room beautifully furnished and very clean and the breakfast very good for the price we paid.
The location is perfect. If you want to explore the center of Istanbul, it is walking distance to many attractions including the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar and many more. The Hotel room was clean and the staff were very kind and good. The heating system was perfect. The breakfast was better than expected.
We were very lucky to find such a great this hotel in Istanbul. Its new hotel and rooms are really clean, bathrooms are clean too, and it is only 5 min by walking to metro station and Grand Bazaar.Hope to stay at this hotel again.
Grand Bazar is just for visiting not for shopping as costs are higher here. The funny thing is that everything is about negotiation in shops or on the streets. You will have a big surprise that the final price you are paying it is with 30% - 50% less. I.e. Turkish yoyo on the street is 5TL but if you offer 2.5 TL you're gone have it :) Good look.
Visit The Grand Bazaar in the evening, before closing to avoid the crowd. For the rest of sightseeing afternoon around 3-5 pm is the least crowded time.
A large number of retail stores near by Sultanahmet, Cemberlitas and Grand bazar selling genuine leather shoes, they are offering latest models and a large number of brands at very good prices.
One can experience the contrast of the 1001 night feel of the grand bazaar to the slick city state of the art shopping malls , and to an antique flea market in the French quarter . A unique city
Grand bazaar is amazing but good luck getting round without being hassled
The atmosphere. You can find most of these things in other places but not in market places with such heady atmosphere as in Istanbul. It is an experience to spend time in Grand Bazaar even if you buy nothing. Shopping areas in India, my country, are equally interesting but they tend to be dirty and full of traps like potholes and overflowing drains. Istanbul has the atmosphere without these problems. The place we liked most was Arasta Bazaar near the Blue Mosque.
