Please be prepared to pay at least $25 per day for parking. Get a hotel close to wear you'll be touring and walk each day. Everything is in walking distance which is good for site seeing and waking off all of that deliciousness.
If you don't want to be expoaes to the wildest environment go on Friday between 11:00 and 5:00. We did not go during the day Saturday but went Saturday and the crowd was overwhelming; however, what we expected. We found a great live band and had a blast. Not for kids under 21 at night. But great if you're into bar hopping. Fat Tuesday's my fav
Go during the day if you're older or with families just to see it. If you're 18 and up go anytime and have a blast. Be careful walking around and I would not recommend high heels. The streets are very torn up and lot's of holes and broken sidewalks. As with any large city keep your wallet and purse on you.
Bourbon Street is gross- a swirl of aging frat boys and vomiting tourists. We went to the Faubourg Marigny and walked Frenchman Street instead and it was amazing- a boisterous street band on the corner attracted a crowd and stopped traffic, there were great jazz clubs and restaurants, bars and shops on Frenchman, a lovely artists market set up for night strolling. Exactly what you expect New Orleans to be. Skip Bourbon street and head to Frenchman!!
Be prepared for dirty, smelly, craziness . Quiet during the day, lots of tasty places to eat and souvenir shops. At night, it comes alive with crowds of half drunk/drunk people. Crazy costumes and a lot of street/homeless looking for money, food, anything you can give them. It's definitely an experience
Everything you have heard is true, except the music is better than you think. Skip the hand grenades and find a spot with a rockin band for your time on Bourbon Street. Or just walk it to see the spectacle and move on to other streets in the Quarter or Marigny.
The room was very comfortable and clean, and the hotel was very close and within walking distance to Bourbon Street. However, it was far enough away to be very quiet and relaxing. The breakfast was very delicious, and we really enjoyed it. Although it was expensive to park, the valet service was exceptional and having our car parked indoors and off the street was a plus.
This hotel is Prime location if you want to experience the night life of Bourbon street but don't want to stay in the midst of the action. Easily a 10-15 minute walk to all of the action of Bourbon Street Restaurants are also very close by. *Pro tip, don't pay full price for the garage next door, Spot Hero, always. Much cheaper.
One of the best hotel rooms I ever stayed in and I've been to vegas several times and stayed at the most famous hotel/casinos out there. Also stayed in hotels out in California overlooking the beach. Amazing amazing amazing Value as its not even a quarter mile to Bourbon Street
Check in was fast, friendly staff. The room was awesome, with comfortable bed and pillows and stayed nice and cold. The location is perfect, close to Bourbon Street, less than a 10 minute walk. I highly recommend this hotel and will be staying here when we're in New Orleans.
This hotel is in a great location, just blocks from French Market, Jackson Square, Bourbon Street and Frenchmen Street. They are clean (hosed off the entrance sidewalks every morning), rooms were clean and updated and nicely decorated!
When we went to leave, we realized that they had breakfast. I guess I missed that info when booking. I liked that it was fairly close to Bourbon street although we left the hotel going the complete wrong direction.
Loved the breakfast and the “happy hour” thing. I loved that we were able to walk to bourbon street and come back to such a great place for sleep. I also loved how secure I felt in the hotel.
The location was perfect, I traveled by train and the hotel was walking distance also it was walking distance to bourbon street, which I enjoyed very much. Thank you
Very cute hotel with a great location to Bourbon Street. Room was what was advertised and very clean. Definitely will stay here again when visiting.
If you are looking to avoid crowds, its tough. Find restaurants off the beaten track and at different times than are typical eating times. Avoid Bourbon street at night on the weekend, more of a crowd drinking scene anyway so if crowds aren't your thing, not really where you should be looking. The fact is that it is a popular place so it is tough to miss people, but strike out on your own and explore and there are some great things to see.
So many options to listen and enjoy music, not only on Bourbon Street but throughout the French Quarters and adjacent areas. Big plus is that for most places its free entry, so you can just go and enjoy the music without having to spend much money.
Don't be afraid to ask locals for suggestions! Bourbon street bartenders are a treasure trove of suggestions for places off ghe beaten path
Bourbon Street has the worst features of Spring Break at night, especially on weekends and during festivals/holidays.
