It’s good to walk along there and people watch, it’s mainly drunk tourists but fun to watch the guys working on the street trying to hustle as well, there’s some real characters. Plenty more great places to visit in the city though
Please be prepared to pay at least $25 per day for parking. Get a hotel close to wear you'll be touring and walk each day. Everything is in walking distance which is good for site seeing and waking off all of that deliciousness.
If you don't want to be expoaes to the wildest environment go on Friday between 11:00 and 5:00. We did not go during the day Saturday but went Saturday and the crowd was overwhelming; however, what we expected. We found a great live band and had a blast. Not for kids under 21 at night. But great if you're into bar hopping. Fat Tuesday's my fav
Go during the day if you're older or with families just to see it. If you're 18 and up go anytime and have a blast. Be careful walking around and I would not recommend high heels. The streets are very torn up and lot's of holes and broken sidewalks. As with any large city keep your wallet and purse on you.
Bourbon Street is gross- a swirl of aging frat boys and vomiting tourists. We went to the Faubourg Marigny and walked Frenchman Street instead and it was amazing- a boisterous street band on the corner attracted a crowd and stopped traffic, there were great jazz clubs and restaurants, bars and shops on Frenchman, a lovely artists market set up for night strolling. Exactly what you expect New Orleans to be. Skip Bourbon street and head to Frenchman!!
Be prepared for dirty, smelly, craziness . Quiet during the day, lots of tasty places to eat and souvenir shops. At night, it comes alive with crowds of half drunk/drunk people. Crazy costumes and a lot of street/homeless looking for money, food, anything you can give them. It's definitely an experience
Location is great, 3 blocks from Bourbon Street and less than a mile from the Steamboat ride. There are several options for food nearby. Paid extra for parking in the hotel garage, but it was worth it. Room is not very big, but beds are comfortable, shower is good and there is a mini fridge in the room which is also a plus. Staff was friendly, breakfast included was also good, although i do suggest you go get a Beignet with coffee at Café Beignet.
If your looking for a lavish hotel experience this is not it. It’s very bare bones sort of like a long stay hotel. It was great because there were not many places that accommodate my five friends and I all staying together in the same hotel room. The three bedroom had the rooms plus a huge living and dining area. It was a nice easy walk to bourbon street and mothers is right around the corner. They were so good!
The hotel was very clean. Check in was fast and easy. They even had my name on the tv screen when I walked in the room :) The staff were all professional and helpful. Location is a few blocks from bourbon street. There is a little corner store right outside that sells beer/liquor and some pretty good fried chicken lol. As a woman I felt safe walking to and from after dark.
High ceilings, tasteful decor, brick walls painted white, hardwood floor. Old New Orleans meets contemporary New Orleans in this hotel. My room reminded me of those desirable renovated brownstone apartments in New York. Centrally located and close to the debaucheries of Bourbon Street. This is a boutique hotel par excellence.
Very convenient and easy access and walking to distance to both Canal and Bourbon Street. Beautifully decorated hotel with comfort, leisure and great customer service as well as live entertainment. The hotel.overlooks borh the City of New Orleans and the Mississippi River. I will definitely revisit this hotel again and again
The apartment exceeded all expectations. Centrally located near the Superdome and bourbon street. Far enough that it’s quiet at night and felt safe. Uber to the Garden district was cheap and roughly 10 min. The apartment itself was big and beautifully decorated/renovated. If I could live there I would.
This hotel is comfortable, quiet and centrally located(walking distance to Bourbon Street). The hotel bar , Bar Vin, offers a full bar with a great wine selection. This bar is the perfect place if you're looking to enjoy a few cocktails away from the noisy hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street.
Our first experience in New Orleans was amazing! This hotel is walking distance to some amazing bars and restaurants, bourbon street and more. Location was amazing and staff were super nice and helpful! Will absolutely be staying here when we come back!
This luxury hotel is easy walking distance to Bourbon Street, Cafe Du Monde, live jazz, Creole restaurants in the French Quarter. It offers secure parking, a nice room. We were greeted and asked how things were for us there.
I didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast. But the menu choices was great. The hotel is super nice! The staffs are really nice and helpful. Not far from Bourbon Street and a Block from Canal Street.
If you are looking to avoid crowds, its tough. Find restaurants off the beaten track and at different times than are typical eating times. Avoid Bourbon street at night on the weekend, more of a crowd drinking scene anyway so if crowds aren't your thing, not really where you should be looking. The fact is that it is a popular place so it is tough to miss people, but strike out on your own and explore and there are some great things to see.
So many options to listen and enjoy music, not only on Bourbon Street but throughout the French Quarters and adjacent areas. Big plus is that for most places its free entry, so you can just go and enjoy the music without having to spend much money.
Don't be afraid to ask locals for suggestions! Bourbon street bartenders are a treasure trove of suggestions for places off ghe beaten path
Bourbon Street has the worst features of Spring Break at night, especially on weekends and during festivals/holidays.
