If you are into high end shopping then this is where you want to be with the likes of Louis Vutton and many others. But if you are visiting Chicago on a smaller budget, then Michigan Avenue makes for beautiful window shopping and people watching. Grab a Starbucks coffee, find a spot to sit and watch the world go by.
BIG money and Fantastic shopping. I personally love the Na Hoku Hawaiian Jewelry store. I bought a black pearl and platinum earring and necklace set for my wife, and pearl earrings for my mother. The sales staff were exceedingly patient with me-I was riding a large and unwieldy mobility scooter in their compact store, and I had to look at every single thing they had. At least once. Sometimes two or three times. Accessibility is an issue at many storefronts. The streets, sidewalks and corner cuts themselves are often quite steep, sharp and in very poor repair- with holes or ruts easy enough to step over but difficult if not potentially disasterous for those of us in wheelchairs or scooters.
The room was very stylish, modern and clean. I appreciated the microwave and mini-fridge which allowed me to buy some things for breakfast the night before at the 7-Eleven. The Chicago River view from my room on the 20th floor was amazing. It was also an excellent location to take an architecture cruise in the morning. All four boat companies were within two blocks on all sides of the Michigan Avenue bridge.
Beautiful apartment, and a great location (bus stop right outside, very close to Michigan Avenue and the Red and Green subway lines, respectively). It is fully equipped, with air conditioning, two bathrooms (accessed from the hallway), and three double bedrooms with TVs. It includes an oven, stove, washing machine, dryer, and essential items such as tea, coffee, oil, etc.
The Arlo (formerly Hotel Julian) is ideally placed for nearly everything: on Michigan Avenue with only a few blocks from all possible transportation. The rooms are well designed, if small; the beds are especially comfortable. The redesign (from "Julian" days) was minimal, and several staff have been retained. The price, given the location, is very good.
The hotel has a modern, fun vibe. We liked the loud, party-like atmosphere in the lobby (our stay was on a Friday night and there was a dj). The room was small but comfortable. It was very quiet and the black out shade worked great. The property is close to Michigan Avenue so it is in a great location to shop and get to museums.
Hotel is walking distance from CTA stations so it's super accessible from either Midway or O'Hare; and being on Michigan Avenue offers close proximity to sightseeing spots, activities, restaurants and bars. The Harrison Station for the Red Line offers a convenient way to get to and from Wrigleyville.
The River Hotel is in many pictures and videos from Chicago that I checked online before deciding to visit the city. Its location is just perfect. You can easily walk to Michigan Avenue, the Theater District, the Riverwalk, The Bean, Millennium Park, and the Navy Pier.
The hotel is situated on Michigan Avenue on the opposite side of Grant Park and is convenient to all the attractions of the Loop. It is also a beautiful, historical property, with a gorgeous interior and high-quality restaurant contained within it.
the restaurant/room service was really good. Nice staff. very helpful staff at front desk. gave me ideas on places to eat. the hotel is right in the middle of things. it was about a 5-10 minute walk to michigan avenue (mag mile).
The location was very convenient to Michigan avenue - lots of shopping and restaurants. The lobby of the hotel was cool, good vibe. The bar/restaurant was a good vibe and the food and cocktails were good. Bartenders were very friendly.
Hotel was an easy walking distance from all the sites along Michigan Avenue and nearby restaurants.
Walk Michigan Avenue - See everything from great shops to extraordinary architecture
