We very much enjoyed our three days at the Las Palomas Hotel. We stayed in two different studios. One was equipped with a wood burning fireplace, very exceptional. The other studio was equipped with a gas burning fireplace, it provided a cosy warmth. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They effectively organized the shipment of my laptop, with I for some reason left behind, to our next destination. I was very relieved about that.

Check-in was great. We arrived early and were accommodated. The valet parking was very convenient. This hotel location is ideal, and there is easy access to wonderful museums and historic landmarks. The hotel pool feels like a spa with sunbeds and 2 hottubs. It was supremely comfortable.

The room was beautiful. Santa Fe charming. Beautifully decorated with a wonderful fireplace. The staff went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. The location was fantastic. I could walk almost everywhere. There were many small touches and services that elevated the entire experience.

How likely is it that you would find a true opera in a city...

How likely is it that you would find a true opera in a city of 100,000 people? And out in the open with no walls, and that only has performances in the evenings for 8 weeks in the summer? You can go dressed in flip-flops and shorts, or wear a black tie tux. You can have a tailgate picnic in the parking lot before curtain call, and drinks during intermission (but bring a credit card, no cash sales), and don't forget a sweater because it can get quite cool during the final acts in the high desert. They always include one Mozart production, and one "modern" work among the 5 operas each season. Even if you don't think you like opera, you should consider going. You might change our mind!

Such creative, inventive productions are offered at Santa Fe Opera, that's why we go. The scenic view and locale are breathtaking up there on the mountain top, and the efficiency and planning that goes into maneuvering the parking lots is incomparable. Hats off to the kids who run it!
