Located in Mantanani Island, GreenHouse Lodge provides accommodation with access to a garden. The property boasts reusable plastic materials, using energy-saving lighting and conserving rainwater. Amazing experience! Probably the most unique and beautiful places I have ever had the fortune to stay. Silk sand and crystal clear water! Sook Peng and Fred are wonderful and kind hosts who help to ensure a brilliant stay. They help to organize all the travel arrangements from your lodgings in Kota Kinabalu to the island via car and boat, and it all worked seamlessly. The food that Sook Peng cooked was simply fantastic and some of the best I have had during my whole trip. The lodge is very unique and they take their environmental responsibility very seriously. Staying on the island is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s completely deserted apart from a small village and there are lots of different activities one can do. (Kayak, snorkel, diving, guided walks). We did bonfires at night and spent the days in hammocks just meters from the beach as the local island cows wandered past.

The Last Frontier Boutique Resort bevindt zich in Bilit, bovenop een heuvel van 100 meter hoog met uitzicht op het bosreservaat Kinabatangan. I had high expectations of the Last Frontier, and somehow it exceeded them. We were looked after from start to finish by the very impressive Jason - we learned so much from him about the area, and Malaysia in general, and he was extremely thoughtful about everybody's needs. We went on three boat rides and a hike. Ryan, our guide, was very knowledgeable and could identify animals from just a quick glance (he's quiet at first but if you ask him questions you'll learn a lot). We felt completely safe with him and spotted four of the "Borneo Big 5", despite the rainy season, as well as many other animals. The morning cruise costs a bit extra (95 MYR per person at the time of writing) but was totally worth it for another chance to see the animals - on ours we saw orangutans and rhinoceros hornbills, although of course nothing is guaranteed. The lodge itself is very comfortable with big beds and hot showers - the only thing missing is mosquito nets (there are screens on the windows but a few still get in). If you're worried about other creepy crawlies entering the room, we didn't see any. The restaurant on the other hand is open at the sides so when the lights come on in the evening it's full of life - you'll see moths and bats flying through (but don't worry, they're not interested in you). The food was delicious - while breakfasts were western style, we were served classic Malaysian dishes for dinner. Meals are set - there is no menu to choose from - but they were extremely thoughtful about dietary needs, so let them know in advance (vegans and people with allergies are well catered for here). And while there is no wifi, we had data connection with both Celcom and Maxis at least some of the time. This is a special place where you'll get a more intimate experience of nature than at the bigger lodges. We loved our stay and whole-heartedly recommend it.

The staff was excellent Mica and Ten did an excellent job spotting the wildlife and were very knowledgeable answering any questions about the animals in the area. Fantastic experience

Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort is gelegen in Sepilok in de regio Sabah en biedt accommodatie met gratis privéparkeren en toegang tot een hot tub. Very very well organised and friendly staff! Super cool facility and a Pool to cool down after a hot day!

Nulu View Cabin ligt in Kundasang in de regio Sabah en biedt accommodatie met gratis privéparkeren. De ligging is prachtig en het uitzicht vanuit het raam was echt een meerwaarde. Helaas hield de rest van het verblijf hier geen gelijke tred mee.

Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna biedt accommodatie met uitzicht op de zee en een restaurant. Alle units hebben een eigen badkamer met bidet. Er is ook gratis toiletartikelen en slippers. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Free snorkeling around Waterhouse and equipment is also free(10RM to rent fin though). Dining is amazingly delicious(we had very good crabs).

Tampat do Aman ligt in Kudat en biedt gratis WiFi, een tuin, een terras en een restaurant. Als je de omgeving wil ontdekken, dan kun je wandelen en de lodge kan autoverhuur regelen. Super vriendelijke eigenaar en prachtig domein. Zowel waar de huisjes staan als het gebied aan de overkant van de straat. De locatie is ook perfect. Heel rustig maar dichtbij de tip of Borneo met leuke stranden. Voor wie houdt van de natuur en het rustig aan wil doen!
