Located in Kudat in the Sabah region, Tammoyo Place provides accommodation with free private parking. Some units include a seating area and/or a balcony. The lodge offers a children's playground. I never make time for reviews but this place deserves it. I booked 1 night, stayed 3, wish I could live there...Amazing location, beautiful quiet beach (and ok with beach campfires), massive portions of delicious homemade food at super reasonable price (easily accommodated vegetarian but would love to serve you fresh seafood), comfy and safe place (solo female traveller here and felt 100% comfortable at all times), many activities depending on your wishes. One of the best snorkelling locations I've ever seen (Belize has nothing compared to Banggi island!!). Best of all, I felt treated as a guest/friend rather than a source of cash. Host Romeo really went out of his way to make me happy. Cannot say enough good things....just go for yourself and you will be amazed

Located in Mantanani Island, GreenHouse Lodge provides accommodation with access to a garden. The property boasts reusable plastic materials, using energy-saving lighting and conserving rainwater. The best stay I’ve had in years! 🏝️This is truly a relaxing Island experience and an opportunity for you to unwind in a secluded location. Thank you Sook Peng and Fred for helping my stay feels like home! They have arranged the transfer quite seamlessly, I got picked up from the hotel early morning to the pier and then to the island. The view is truly amazing as the lodge is right in front of the sea. They have everything you need for this Island: kayaks, snorkel masks, beach mats and coconuts (and beer which is a rare commodity in the island)! Thank you Sook Peng for the wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s wonderful to enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal by the sea. I also get to taste some delicious farm-to-table vegetables they’ve grown from their aquaponics farm ♥️ I’ve enjoyed my time on the island, there’s a dive centre 5-min walk from the lodge and it’s convenient if you’d like to join a dive or two. My room is right in front of the sea with a little garden, sun lounge area and a private entrance to the beach. You’re surrounded by nature and animals, I’ve seen cats, cows, tree frogs, big green turtles and more. Just be prepared for mosquitos at night, you can spray the room before you leave for dinner, I’ve also bought a “Deep Woods” repellent and some repellent wristbands which comes in quite handy. There’s no aircon in the room but the island breeze does help, the room is well-ventilated and there’s a fan and cooling machine in the room. Truly an amazing getaway, I must come back again!

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan. one word: amazing! if you had the chance I would recommend to book this place! Jason Grent and the staff are very friendly, they have just 4 rooms so they take care of all their people! this is a true experience into Borneo wild life…we had a lucky meeting with an orangutan nearby the rooms! the eco resort is located up to a hill but is not difficult to go upstairs since you are incredibly absorbed in the nature! they organised everything perfectly: 2 boat trips and one trekking up to a hill (about 2,5h). You have enough time to rest. They also care a lot about our transfer at the check out to Semporna, we could not ask for more!! The food was also good, even if for me a little bit too “western”, banana pancakes and nasi goreng were special!! rooms are big essential and comfy. this experience is worth to do, just remind the Jungle itself is a little bit noisy special during the night, we slept well anyways. thanks again! I would come again!

Situated in Kinabatangan in the Sabah region, Borneo Jungle Adventure features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. Linda was a wonderful host and a knowledgeable guide, the food was good and we saw all the animals that we wanted to see during the river trips

Set in Sepilok in the Sabah region, Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort offers accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot tub. Really amazing place to stay near all of the sights in Sepilok. I chose to walk everywhere and it seemed to be in a pretty central location. Food was tasty and staff was friendly.

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Nulu View Cabin provides accommodation with free private parking. Not only was the view from the room amazing, but the lady checking us in and out was so kind and helpful.

Featuring sea views, Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna features accommodation and a restaurant. There is a private bathroom with bidet in all units, along with free toiletries and slippers. I stayed here with my family, on my first trip to Sempurna. Had high expectations after seeing a lot of pics from Sempurna and they did not disappoint. The check in and drop off were seamlessly arranged. They also helped arrange our tour while we were there. The first day we went sea walking and the next day we went island hopping with a good amount of time spent snorkelling. There are also activities arranged near the water house, we did a bit of kayaking around the water house. The rooms are clean. The staff are very kind and helpful with good karaoke and music after dinner. Being in the sea, the sea food served during the buffet dinner was really good. This is a good place to take fabulous photos and also to soak in the goodness of the sea and nature. Sempurna was a lovely place, and I met a lot of interesting people. It's not crowded like KK and therefore you get to really enjoy all the sea activities at a pace we find good. The people like all in South East Asia are very kind, welcoming and warm. I'm sure I won't have any second thoughts to choose Maglami-lami Waterhouse if we ever plan another trip to lovely Sempurna.

Located in Kudat, Tampat do Aman provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a terrace and a restaurant. If you're looking for a place to be away from the world, and like to be surrounded by beautiful nature and the best beaches, look no further. Howard is definitely the best host on the island! He takes you to and from the beach and goes out of his way to make your stay wonderful. We only stayed for 2 nights, but we wish it was 20! We slept in a simple hut with only a mattress and a fan, with showers and toilets very close by. Don't expect a lot of luxury here, but that's all part of the experience. The only other feedback I'd like to give is that the price is quite high if you're looking purely at the state of your bedroom, especially for a backpacker budget. But still, we would pay it over and over again because the service, the location and the experience make it so worth it! Don't skip this place when visiting Borneo, it's the most magical part of the island!
