Mori no Fairy is a quaint, cosy wooden cottage that faces the sea. Situated on the south-eastern side of Yakushima island, a stay in this property added a sense of homeliness to an already-magical experience that was Yakushima. I stayed alone, but the size of the cottage would have comfortably fit four people. There were two AC units that kept me warm and comfortable, and a simple yet plush couch to rest your weary legs after hiking through the mystical forests of the island. The bathroom facilities were kept immaculately clean throughout my stay, with warm and cool water available. Towels were changed daily: if you choose to sleep in, they'll leave clean towels outside your room for you. There's a small kitchenette for light cooking: good enough for preparing a simple breakfast or a quick meal to take along with you during your hikes. The highlight of this property is definitely the outdoor deck. There's a small table and some chairs where you can sit and enjoy alfresco-style dining, and two recliners for nightly star-gazing sessions. There's even a small observation deck (accessed via a ladder with about 9 steps) that you can climb up onto for a better view. Last but definitely not least: a goemonburo, which I learned is a traditional Japanese iron bath. Imagine that: being able to soak in your own personal steaming outdoor bath while admiring the sea view that lies before you, and all this after a picturesque but grueling hike when all your muscles are sore. There are some experiences you know will stay with you for life, and this is one of them for me. The hospitality of the property's staff was gracious and welcoming. Upon arrival, my cottage was clearly marked out for me with proper instructions on what to do. They were was very prompt in their replies to my enquiries before I arrived, and they spoke very good English.

I simply loved this place. The small house had everything we needed. A kitchen, large dining area, big bathing room. The was a terrance and the balcony with the view on the ocean. The breakfast was delicious and the owners were amazing. Really recommend although you need to rent a car to get there basically but I thing it's a standard if you want to see the island in general ;)

Yakushima noktasında, Shiratani Unsuikyo noktasına 11 km mesafede yer alan Cottage Yakusugi House tesisinde dağ manzarası, ücretsiz WiFi erişimi ve ücretsiz özel park yeri olanağı mevcuttur. This is a beautiful home that is much more traditional than anywhere else I managed to stay in my month-long trip in Japan. It was spacious and well maintained. It also comes with its own kitchen and fridge if you do want to cook your own food. Though we had trouble communicating in both Japanese (I am far from fluent) and English, we made it through in the end :P.

Harutahama Plajı noktasına 2,4 km ve Yakusugi Land noktasına 17 km mesafede bulunan Cottage Kutsuroki tesisi Yakushima noktasında konaklama imkanı sunar. Located near the bus stop 62 if you don't have a car. Also well located to hike the Arakawa trail, I was able to take the first bus without problems. You can also order bento for the trail the day before if you want to, which is super convenient. Also located near a supermarket and the main town, if you want to buy supplies or eat in a local restaurant. It was super clean and super comfortable.
