Boasting a 200-year history, Motoyu Ishiya features classic architecture, an original Noh stage and a garden. Surrounded by tranquil mountains, it offers luxurious Japanese accommodations with outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths. Free WiFi is available at the lobby, and guests can shop at the souvenir store on site. This is an incredible experience! Authentic 230 years old ryokan owned for 9 generation of this family. I've never seen more polite, attentive and helpful staff than this. They would take care of your luggages from the taxi and will load it back to the taxi when you leave, clean the wheels, anticipate your needs. The dinner is a fantastic 10+ Japanese dining experience, where you can try a variety of local traditional dishes. You can purchase alcohol too if you like. The 100-year old Noh theater stage is unique, and the owner can give you a tour if you request it. The garden is well kept and beautiful. The ryokan has many little pockets and areas to relax, read a book, enjoy the views on the garden. Quiet and relaxing. You can reach it by taxi, or by train/bus + a short taxi from the local station; trust me it's worth a ride. The ryokan is filled with little details, like ceramics and art pieces, antique artifacts like from a museum. The onsen water has many healing properties (there is a certificate by the entrance with the water evaluation summary). It's coffee colored and considered to be 'beauty spa'. Men and women are separate; no access to the outdoors, but you can see the view on the forest during the day time. There are little massaging machines for feet and back available to the guests for free. The room is traditional style, with all the essentials, amazing green tea. Very impressive experience overall.

The owner and team were so wonderful and looked after us beautifully. The suite itself was divine. Soaking in a cedar tub while looking at the forest floor is something we’ll never forget. The private dining room makes your stay feel even more exclusive. The food was truly out of this world. Our baby was catered for beautifully. We even had a large Moses basket in the dining room for her to rest. The area itself is very cool- there was an arts and crafts fair there when we stayed. There is a beautiful forest walk too. Can’t fault the stay and can’t wait to return one day.

Hosts made this property in a lovely fishing Harbour. Great communication with Annie and the use of bikes was an added bonus. Recommend the sakasushi for amazing fresh sushi and sake. Also enjoyed the experience of the public bath hot springs which is free with your room key . Great stay Thank you
Hot spring was amazing! We really liked and enjoyed everything at this place. Personnel was extremely friendly, room nicely decorated and the bath very relaxing.
Great traditional accommodation (Ryokan) with private Onsen. Very spacious rooms with authentic furniture including tatami mats. Coffee, drinks and snacks are for free. The location ist perfect for visiting the beautiful Kenroku-en Garden, the nearby castle or the traditional Geisha quarter (Higashi chaya). The Kanazawa station is approx. 25 minutes away (walking distance) and 10 minutes by taxi.
Very clean.Lovely Onsen. Great location.
The room is so comfy and clean. We love it that the hotel provide a kettle and a set of Japanese tea cups for us to make Japanese tea in the room. But what we like the most is the onsen, a Japanese hot spring pool. We went there every single night during our stay. It was a nice treat after a long walk from the sightseeing. The staff at the reception were also very helpful. She helped us make a reservation for us to eat at this very fine tempura restaurant in the Higashi Chaya district since we can’t speak Japanese.
1. Hot Spring is excellent. With outdoor hotspring is an unexpected bonus. It also give u extra happiness to provide you free ice-cream, and refreshment of a hot soup noddle (also free of charge). 2. The massage service is very good, in good price. 3. Extremely comfortable bed. 4. Very clean room and all facilities. 5. Warm and polite staffs. 6.Good location of 3 min walk to JR station/ bus station. 7. Good security. 8. Hotel Guests are goid as well.
Everything was very clean and tidy. The owner was too kind and ready to help. She took me to the train station twice during my stay. I liked the onsen and the room was also comfortable. I liked also the traditional setting or the ryokan.
The location was ideal. The room was comfortable well provided with snacks, fruits and drinks. It had a great river view, and it was relaxing hearing the river water flowing. The attached open air onsen was really great and allowed us to soak in the warm water from the hot spring and enjoying the view of the river and trees. Very relaxing. Dinners and breakfast were provided and very elaborate and well done; it was very good. And thanks for the bento set which was thoughtfully packed for us when we checked out to go to the airport.
