The location is great but you can only see Mount fuji if you go to the rooftop. The rooms face the lake. It had a traditional vibe, super clean and the room had a balcony. The futon was really confortable. We had dinner served in our room and the food was incredible (expect a LOT of food!). The breakfast is in a common area, equally great. There are two onsens, one bigger and one smaller on the rooftop. Both were amazing and calm.

Hospitality was fantastic, staff were really attentive and catered for every need right from the start. Facilities were great and what an amazing location. The onsen was the best we visited in the whole of Japan.

Luxurious ryokan Fuji Onsenji Yumedono is located just 500 metres from Lake Kawaguchiko. This was an exceptional stay. While the onsen doesn't offer a direct view of mount Fuji, we could clearly see it on our drive over thanks to clear skies. When we entered the premises, the staff was attentive immediately. From taking our luggage to making sure we were set up in our room. The room was SPACIOUS, with a lounge area and bedroom with screens to close off sections. The highlight was having our own outdoor bath to enjoy during cold winter nights. Perhaps the most breathtaking aspect of our stay were the meals. We were blown away by our dinner. It was the best thing we ate during out entire trip in Japan (we were in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto prior). We enjoyed a sumptuous parade of dishes that really showed off the local ingredients. We didn't think it could get better, but breakfast the next day was equally, if not more, delicious. While expensive, we enjoyed a serene getaway with our private outdoor bath and excellent meals. Would love to return.
