The staff were fantastic. Amila looked after us so well the whole time and really made us feel cared for and made our stay. Our honeymoon was perfect and so glad we chose Goto Ray Retreat. The team even wrote us a personal congratulations and welcome card for us on arrival! Chef Ko Takahira is a real artist and his food was amazing. He sources fresh fish from the market himself daily which really speaks to the quality of his dishes. We would definitely stay again. Shame we couldn't stay longer. Set just 48 km from Nagasaki Museum of History, 旅亭 半水盧 offers accommodation in Unzen with access to an open-air bath, a garden, as well as a 24-hour front desk. This is an outstanding unique property if you like hot thermal spas. While I am not a fan of public bathing I found some hours when no one was there and I snuck in. What a luxury!!!! For next year I am getting suite with the private hot thermal spa so I don’t have to worry about the privacy. That having been said this place is six stars the service the food the Japanese ambiance and the entire experience is complete. I am an international traveler and I go to high end places only. This place was an amazing surprise in the middle of Unzen. I highly highly recommend it
