Onyado Shikishima-kan offers a sauna and free private parking, and is within 32 km of Kitahamaebisu Shrine and 40 km of Liminal Air-core Takamatsu. The inn was so beautiful and many wonderful qualities. It's location is in the middle of a lively street full of shops and restaurants and a close (though uphill) walk to a temple. The in-room amenities were wonderful: whole coffee beans, a grinder, a coffee pot and cups, a separate teapot and teacups, pajamas, robes, and any necessary toiletries. The provided breakfast and dinner was delicious, traditional Japanese fare with English menus to explain the nightly courses (though I'd still suggest having a translator app). Last, but certainly not least: the baths were incredible. I appreciate that the private baths did not need a reservation and were all themed differently. So relaxing!! All my worries melted away here.

Located in Kasuga, 26 km from Takamatsu, Asan Kotonami features a terrace and views of the mountain. The ryokan has a hot spring bath and sauna, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Very beautiful location and Ryokan. Everything was perfect the room and also the gastronomic food with a wonderful sake. What do you want more.

Featuring beautiful nature views from its rooftop hot spring bath, Hotel Kazurabashi offers Japanese-style rooms and a dining room where food is prepared in the hearth at the guest's table. Wonderful spot to experience some local color of Japan. Beautiful area in the mountains. Onsen was gorgeous. Traditional Japanese dinners and breakfasts were an experience and a treat. The hotel did a wonderful job of accommodating our vegetarian diet.

A 15-minute walk from JR Kotohira Station, Kotohira Kadan offers natural hot spring baths and spacious Japanese-style rooms, some with a private outdoor hot spring bath. This property is truly a gem. While I can comment only on the room we stayed in, room 503 which was a Japanese style room, I would rate it as a 10/10. The staff are all lovely. Every single staff member that crossed our path was very helpful, polite and friendly. Our room had a gorgeous 180 degree view over Kotohira. The sound of the river below was so nice. If I was to stay again, I would stay in a western style room simply because I found it difficult to get off the floor. I peeked in room 302 on my way out and think any western room on that side of that building with that view, could not be beat. We did not have our dinners at the hotel but did have breakfast every day for the four days we were there. The amount of food is enough to set you for the entire day. I enjoyed a vegetarian western breakfast while my husband enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. The food is delicious, the presentation is beautifully done and the service is exceptional. Such a hard working team. The staff were happy to take us to the train station whoever we wanted to go on a day trip. A day trip to the Iya valley and one to the Ritsurin gardens should not be missed.

The property was stunning with amazing views, super comfortable beds and amazing bathroom, The hosts very super lovely and explained everything really well!

I really loved the design of the building - so many intentional touches inside of the tiny home. Felt like a creative retreat complete with stars, forest, beach!
