I simply love everything from the hotel, the rooms, the private baths, the staff, the dining area, breakfast buffet, location, the views, little lounge area. I enjoyed the rooms very much, I wish I could have stayed longer and I still think about returning again. The room was so cozy and modern, bed so comfy. I could live there. It’s so close to stores, the town and connected to train station. I would rate 10 plus. It’s so nice.

Situated in Senboku and only 15 km from Nyuto Hot Spring, Kashintei Shirahama features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. Meals were easily the most intricate and most sophisticated of all the Ryokans I've tried. They go out of their way to showcase Akita specialties, which I really appreciate as it means I need not travel to restaurants specially to try them. They provide a private dining room and I cheekily thought to myself that this is so you can lick your plate clean! Indeed it was so delicious that if the Michelin inspectors came, I am sure they will get a star. Best service out of all the ryokans I went to - everyone is super attentive and super responsive. On the booking.com app, they were the most prompt to respond to messages. They had good recommendations for me on what I could do around Lake Tazawako and the surrounding area. Other examples of exemplary service: They took the initiative to ask me if I would like a picture with my meal (as I was a solo traveller). How delightful! Out of all the ryokans I stayed in, this is the only one who did that. Another example: they asked me if they could clean my room while I am out. This is unlike other hotels and ryokans that instead ask if I would like my room cleaned (assuming that the default is no). The room was of a most excellent layout with good separation of different areas and a good size such that it makes you feel like you are living in your own apartment and not so much a resort. The bed was also very comfortable - there is something special about the bed linens. They were so refreshing to the touch and so comfortable. At every corner there are thoughtful gestures - a little bench for you to admire a view, the tatami flooring throughout. Every effort has been made to make it a special and premium experience. Even the toilet is larger than some of what I’ve seen and has charming and tasteful decorations. I am so glad I tried out Kashintei Shirahama and hope to be back!

Historical Ryokan SENYUKAN features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 42 km of Lake Towada and 43 km of Sannai-Maruyama site. Perfect service, clean rooms and warm. Flair of past living and housing in Ōwani is a beautiful experience.

Featuring an open-air bath, Kameya Hotel is located in the Yunohama Onsen district of Tsuruoka, only 3.5 km from Kamo Aquarium. This ryokan provides free private parking and a 24-hour front desk. Amazing history and gardens. Rooms were enormous, with open views of the beach and with a cedar bathtub fed by hot springs in the room.

Situated in Tendo in the Yamagata region, Ichiraku tendo spa & brewery features accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a hot spring bath. Cool concept with the brewery onsen combo, tasty beer, personal service, delicious and varied dinner and breakfast. Had a small yukata for baby as well! Great stay

Yuze Hotel has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kazuno, 38 km from Appi Kogen Ski Resort. This 4-star ryokan offers a lift and luggage storage space. Everyone was kind and helpful, the room was clean and we had most of the amenities we needed, we loved the onsens and the scenery. The choice of food was great and the free bar was just what we needed after the bath, we got to try different kinds of Japanese liquors,it was awesome! My husband ordered flowers for Valentine's day and the hotel provided the most beautiful basket I ever seen , totally exceeded our expectations! We can't wait to come back for another wonderful stay!

Featuring free WiFi and a restaurant, Okawaso offers accommodation in Aizuwakamatsu, 13 km from Aizu Higashiyama Onsen. Each room at this ryokan is air conditioned and comes with a TV. The staff were extremely friendly and very customer service oriented. The room and facilities were of extremely high quality - I felt as if I was in a 5 star hotel. The dinner was perfect. Hot springs are very pleasant.

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. Where to begin? The room was excellent in size and had a nice feeling to it. The onsen was close by. The staff was so kind and service minded. The whole experience with dinner and breakfast was exceptional, especially the staff member whom served us with excellent English. Just the whole experience was quite wonderful.

This place is the perfect location to the aki fields, with large comfortable rooms and excellent dining. The staff were exceptional and were very helpful, it is easy to get to with local buses from the Tazawako train station..
