Fabulous room: private outdoor onsen, huge bath tube and a separate balcony. Big TV set with huge couch to sit on. Outstanding breakfast. Extremely attentive and supportive staff. All services — at a top notch. Great choice for a few days relax from Tokyo hype.

Onyado Yuinosho, Shirakawago provides a sauna and free private parking, and is within 45 km of Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village and 46 km of Takayama Station. At first I was slightly uneased by the price of the night for 3 people, but after experiencing the onsen, the amazing dinner, and exceptional breakfast combined with top notch staff, I must say, the price is very well worth it. Food was superb, and the quality of the onsen was unbelievable - rivaling that of Beppu onsens known through Japan. Not to mention the exceptional accessibility options should the guest be differently abled - 2 very wide elevators, appropriately sloped ground, no bumps going through the rooms.

Oyado Koto No Yume on vain 2 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä Takayaman rautatieasemalta, ja se tarjoaa japanilaisia huoneita, joissa on värikkäitä yksityiskohtia. Paikka on aivan ihana. Henkilökunta todella kohteliasta, kielitaitoista ja palvelualtista. Ryokan itsessään suorastaan valloittava ulkoasultaan ja tunnelmaltaan. Aulassa iltaisin paikallista sakea vapaalla kaadolla, mutta ei känniörvellystä. Huone todella siisti, kaunis ja perinteinen. Talon puolesta löytyy yukatat myös hieman isommille kuin pienemmillekin aikuisille, myös länkkärikoossa. Yksityiskylpyvuoro saatavilla, oli meille kiva juttu. Sijainti myös erinomainen. Ehdoton suositus.

Ryokan Hostel K's House sijaitsee 100 vuotta vanhassa rekisteröidyssä kulttuuriperintörakennuksessa Shizuokassa, 7 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä JR Iton rautatieasemalta. The location was perfect for us. Staff are very helpful. Amazing Ramen place the other side of the bridge. Best in Ito.

Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodation featuring hot spring baths and nature views. A really beautiful hotel with many details thought of. So many complimentary things offered which really enhance your stay from the robes and slippers you change into when you arrive, ice lollies after the onsen, noodles in the evening, marshmallows for roasting on the terrace, it feels like the staff really want to go the extra mile to surprise and delight you. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the onsens themselves an amazing experience that we all loved, even our children age 10,12 and 14 enjoyed them. The food was very traditional and incredibly special with exceptional presentation. The dinner is expensive but a real treat for the senses. I highly recommend the breakfasts as well. We took the bus to Kamikochi for easy hiking/walking which was perfect. All in all the most perfect start to our Japanese adventure. I’m so glad we had some time in the mountains before Kyoto and Tokyo. Most staff speak some English but google translate is helpful if you need to say more than the basics!

Amazing coffee with a beautiful tray with assorted jams and pastries with egg and sausage We shared a room for three and still felt very comfortable Wish we could stay longer

Set in Ito, 30 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, リゾートホテル伊東山荘-Toki- offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Excellent service and food. Private onsen available to reserve. “Campfire” with roasted marshmallows/sweet potato. Very family friendly.

33 km from Koibito Misaki Cape in Shimoda, 横川温泉湯殿ととのゆ provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, hot tub and open-air bath. Beautiful accomodation. Nice, clean and comfortable. We loved the wooden smell and enjoyed the private bath. The breakfast was delicious. Easy to get to with a car. Self check in and check out process was smooth to do especially as we arrived late. Should have stayed another night or made sure to arrive early to properly enjoy the accomodation.
