The property, the decor and everything else about it. It's very private even though you have neighbors who were very welcoming, BTW. The neighbor offered us mangoes and even eggs from her chicken. People from Santiago are very warm and welcome people; this is all over Santiago. Yolanda cooks very nice meals at her restaurant. You won't be disappointed.

Modern and clean room, own bathroom, good water pressure in the shower. There's no WiFi in the room, but in the restaurant which belongs to the same family there is. They let me sit there for hours sipping a beer. The breakfast was really nice, so we're the freshly cooked local dinners you can book additionally It's located in the middle of Ribeira Hortelao. It took me 4h with collectivos to get there from Praia (450Esc), the way back took only 2, so plan flexible. Hortelao is normaly the ending point of many hikes in the Serra Malaguetta National Park where you walk mainly downhill. Of you're really adventurous and fit, you can do a fantastic but challenging hike up the mountains in one valley and down another. Took me the whole day, 18km, and over 1000m uphill, worth it. The principal dam is also very near The owner and his family are very friendly but don't speak english or french. They also produce their own Grogue across the street and are happy to show you around

Super cosy appartement right next to a lovely little garden. Also the little village itself is really lovely, with several bars and 2 mini markets. The large, black sand beach is a 10min walk away, and you'll be there almost private :) Worth to mention also the lovely (french speaking) host, who will take care of you super friendly and helpful :) Absolute recommendation!
