A genuinely enjoyable and authentic Egyptian stay. The apartment itself is simple and very local — nothing luxurious or fancy, but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is actually quite well equipped. For me, that was part of the charm: this is a real Egyptian home, not a polished tourist hotel. But the real highlight of my stay was Samy, the owner. He is an exceptionally friendly, open and interesting person. We spent quite a lot of time talking about travelling, life and many other things, and I really enjoyed our conversations. What made it even more interesting was discovering that, just like me, Samy uses Couchsurfing when he travels and genuinely enjoys meeting people from different countries and cultures. For me, this is exactly what makes a homestay different from an ordinary hotel. You don't just get a bed for the night — you get a chance to meet a local person and have a real human interaction. I would happily stay here again and I definitely recommend Blue Horizon to travellers who value authentic experiences, good conversations and friendly hospitality more than luxury.
