The room was spotlessly clean. A top sheet and woollen blanket on the bed instead of just a doona. Plenty of hot water. The host showed us to our room and served us our evening meal. The food was very good.

It is in a beautiful area above the gorges, the village is small and quaint, but the restaurant nearby was world class. The home is lovely, spotlessly clean with high quality bedlinen, and our host could not have been friendlier. He was interesting, sharing information about the region, the history and the geology. We enjoyed a fresh breakfast with locally-sourced ingredients as well as home- baking!

A surprisingly spacious gite set in the quiet hamlet of Les Ayres just a short distance outside of Meyrueis - easy, pleasant walk takes 5 -10 minutes to access bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc. There were only 2 of us so we had a choice of bedrooms (3 in all, and all a good size). A lovely shady courtyard with a garden beyond, with fruit trees etc, and views across the adjacent fields to the hills beyond. A little dark inside as you'd expect with such an old property, but nice and cool in the heat we encountered and no doubt very cosy in the winter. The bright 'summer room' extension was an added bonus which gave us another option for a place to sit and read etc + we could park our motorcycle safely underneath. Well equipped and clean throughout and excellent value - we loved this place and were reluctant to leave - if/when we return to the area L'hirondelle will be our first choice!

Lovely hotel. Excellent location for touring the gorges. Breakfast was lovely. We ate once in the hotel and it was very good. Staff v helpful. Garage for motorbike very good.
