Pleasant Japanese-style room with stunning view of the bay, sunrise, and moonrise at night. You can bicycle up along the coastal bicycle road and in 30-45 min get to very nice beaches (the one right upfront in Uchinada is not clean). The tatamis were fake but there was a nice goza (tatami-like carpet) that you can fold, and that felt good on the skin. The new futon mattresses were awesome for my back!!!

The place is beautifully designed: the beds are a delight to sleep in, the bath is huge and very relaxing, and the Japanese breakfast is a gourmet experience. The staff are very warm and hospitable. This place is one reason I’d return to Kanazawa.

We had a long stay here during our visit to Kanazawa. We really enjoyed staying at the hotel - the owner speaks very good English and provided helpful tourist maps for the major attractions in the area. Kanazawa is very walkable, and even the most distant attractions like Higashi Chaya are about 30 minutes on foot, with convenient bus stops close to the hotel. Kenroku-en and many of the museums are about 20 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants nearby - a handful very close in Nishi Chaya, and very many just across the river in Katamachi. The room was very clean, with a very nice shower and bath. Good-quality toiletries were provided. The beds were particularly comfortable and electric blankets were available once the weather got colder.

Just a 7-minute walk from D. T. Suzuki Museum and 700 yards from Shofukaku Garden, Machiya Guest House Carta features accommodations in Kanazawa, with a shared lounge.

We had a wonderful two-day stay at Machiya Guest House Carta. The hosts were extremely kind, welcoming and very helpful, and we loved having a chat with them. The rooms are very spacious, clean and beautiful, decorated in traditional style and recently renovated. The house is also within walking distance from Kenroku-en, Kanazawa castle and all main attractions in Kanazawa. Would have loved to stay a few days more!

What a simply stunning hotel! We adored our beautiful room with its incredibly warm and comfortable bed and the artisanal details in the furniture and room fittings. The bathroom was amazing! We ordered the breakfasts which were delicious - one morning a yummy (and beautiful) obento box delivered to the room and the next morning, a voucher for unassuming and incredibly delicious cafe in the nearby fish market. Probably one of the best meals we ate on the entire trip. The hotel position could not have been more ideal and the staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. Would HIGHLY recommend this hotel and will certainly try to return!

Love the size of a room. We enjoyed the breakfast and fresh bread every day. We basically walked from our hotel everywhere because everything was by walking distance from our hotel.

Location, nice accommodating host, facility, comfort, amenities- we did not use washer and dryer not cooked much but the Netflix came handy during 2 of 4 super rainy days with some periods of severe storms and inability explore all day long as we usually do. Host picked us up at the station during a rain and provided umbrellas so we can start our walk till check in time. Plenty of drinks offered and a very delicious nespresso. Communication was excellent. We would stay again and recommend to others.

Location close to Kanazawa station. Self contained apartment. Very spacious. It was nice to have a fridge and cooking utensils to be able to make dinner for a few nights as we'd been eating out at restaurants for a while already. Great supermarket very close by too.
