There were lots of cooking utensils in the kitchen.. the house was adequately clean,but not sparkling clean. Sheets and covers were old and needed to be replaced. Some of the windows up stairs and on the main floor could not be opened.. and surprisingly there was no second fire escape …just the front door.

Spacious apartment with lots of slepping room. Cosy living room with a well equiped open kitchen. The apartment was very central.

A great location, overall great staff, great value

Nicely furnished. Nice to have washer and dryer. Kitchen was well equipped. Beautiful views from living room of river and valley.

Breakfast had quite a variety of options for a smaller hotel. Location right in town was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations.

The hotel itself very much matches the old Rjukan style - first of all functional and solid. Sure there are things that could do with some maintenance but having everything being new and shiny is really not a priority. Nice view of the river

We loved absolutely everything about this gem of a property: the location in a stunning natural environment, the adorable staff, the unique history and decor of the hotel full of collectible and heirloom furniture and, of course the wonderful dinner. Food certainly was a highlight as this is generally where Norway fails to impress us. We were served a fresh, creative, and delicious dinner in the beautiful dining room overlooking the fjell. The chef even adjusted the menu for the vegetarians among us, creating genuine new dishes for us. Wow! Again, that was unexpected as eating veg in Norway is often a challenge. Everything felt authentic and personal in this independently-run property. Dinner starts with a presentation of the history of the place by the owner, their struggles during Covid and how they overcame them. Charmingly, this introduction included the reading of a poem (sadly we don’t understand Norwegian so had to rely on the translation of the presentation afterwards). Every effort is made to be sustainable : There’s a vegetable garden, the delicious bread is baked on the premisses (we took a box of the amazing Flatbrød with us) and the lovely shop sells some local cheese, honey and other specialties including, this being Norway, sweets :) We are already dreaming of a next stay to the Tuddal Høyfjellshotel to experience more of its magic and of the stunning nature around it as our stay this time was way too short. Note to the owners: stay as you are, you are a genuine gem and the world needs more places like yours. Thank you for everything!
